Just Testing waters on B14 se-r Rims and Nitto NT450

I have them on the se-r now, but i am getting ready to put on some rota comps. The tires were bought about 2 months ago, and still have very very good rubber. Rims are black, and can be seen on pics (kinda) in my sig. With tires, I am asking 500+shipping. Is this too much? i paid 400 for tires, and they have all the balh blah stuff from Discount tire company, which im sure any Discount will honour. LMK guys.

*EDIT- This isnt the DEF price, it could go up or down dep on the feedback i get. (just so you guys dont think im trying to bait/change)

Speaking as a "POSER" looking for a good set of B14 SE-R rims, or rims w/ tires, I'd say....

1) Give the POSERS more than 21hrs. to offer their opinions;

2) If the POSERS don't pile in after them, you're probably high;

3) I took a look at the pic in your sig, and, yup, they're black alright. Black as night inside the black wheelwells, so black no one can possibly have any idea of what they look like, or what condition they are in. Consequently, no one can have any educated opinion of your pricing, except that, with that little info, they're probably not looking to plunk down $500 + shipping for them.

4) What size are the tires? Some folks won't want a 195/50/15 because they hanker for a 205/50/15. Or maybe it will be the other way around. The Nittos are apparently very good tires, from what I've read.

5) It's really not what you have in them that matters, but what it is worth to someone else with similar or different sense of aesthetics. Also, a lot of folks are genetically incapable of buying something without trying to knock the price down.

6) Additionally, most people aren't looking for totally black rims, but, who knows? Someone may think they are the cat's meow. As for me, & probably most others on the forum, we're gauging what will be involved to strip and/or repaint the rims to something we like. Time is money, even if you do the work yourself.

That said, I'm guessing that if the rims are pretty good, w/minimal curbage & w/new tires, and you're really wanting to get rid of them, & buyers are planning to refinish the rims, you'll probably be looking at $400 + shipping; maybe a little more if the rims are in excellent shape. It may not be worth it to you to sell them for that. YMMV.

All things considered, I'm interested in your set. I'd like to see some better pics of the rims. The best pics have indirect lighting (e.g., outside on a cloudy-bright day) which shows detail without glare or shadows. Straight-on, frame-filling shots are probably best. Digital's nice because you can try it with & without flash, & see what gives the clearest detail. Straight-on shots with flash usually give too much glare on lighter-finished wheels, or ones with a gloss finish, but flash might help if your wheels are flat black. If there's any damage or curbage, a closeup of those spots gives folks the full story.

Looking forward to more info.

sorry if any took the "POSER" thing for more than what it was intended. Ive been on this forum for a minute, and figured anyone intrested would already know me, and know that im a joking kinda guy. ANYWAYS>... i will take more pics for you... and i can tell you the finish of black on two of the rims is nice.... but the other two look like dog ass in a can. Today is a good day to take pics. The tires are 205's im pretty sure, but when i get home ill check. 15 in rims, of course, and all the B14 se-r rims are (99% positive) They look really good with these tires. I havent looked at the pics on Cardomian in a long time, so i forgot they were so sh*tty. YES these rims will involve a strip paint... but i figured they would be good enough for someone to use as track rims. Minimal curbage... mostly just paint scratches cause the paint on them is pretty think. I think you can see to thru about 3 layers of diffrent colors (none of which i put on). PM me if you are intrested, and well talk about this 400 price. Might be more accurate, wehich is why i was asking. I was offerd on this forum about 250 for the rims alone before, and these tires arent that cheap. We can work somthign out, but i need to get my last two rotas sprayed. Thanks man peace

Hey, man, thanks for having a good sense of humor. I knew you didn't mean anything by the "POSERS" but I just couldn't resist. Thanks also for not over-reacting.

In fairness, your whole post was very reasonable. You gave some decent detail for a feeler, and you did link viewers to a pic. I found out that my 17"lcd screen at work seems to show things darker & with less contrast than when I view the same pics on my 17"crt at home. The cardomain pics showed a little detail on my crt, but when I looked at them at work on my lcd this morning, they were just black on black, hence my comments above. The cardomain pic looks like 205's.

Look forward to the more detailed pics. I've been thinking about some 15" Rota Circuit 8's ever since I saw the article on Martin Gonzales's B13; lightweight (probably 4-5lbs. less than a B14 rim, which is a plus on a normally-aspirated car), good looking, & I could get out for $400+ or so for a set, plus the cost of whatever tires I put on them. Still, i haven't been able to shake the desire for a set of B14 rims (I'm a sucker for 5-spokes) to maintain the stock-family look. And I don't mind refinishing things myself. I'm primarily interested in the rims plus the tires.

Thanks!
