So I've mostly owned Mustangs and a couple Jeeps but grew up with Nissans since my mom always had them from B12 to a32 Maxima to a 2nd gen Altima so obviously I like Nissans.
I'm originally from North America but have lived near Medellín Colombia for a few years now and have a 2003 b15 hence the username. Although my b15 has the qg18 (only engine option here) I've done a lot to it, so much that most of you'd probably laugh since it's a qg.. all the way to g35 brembos/Ray's wheels all around and every suspension bar including 6pt roll bar. Luckily we have u13 bluebirds here with the sr20de (and sr18de) so I just bought a 1994 u13 for a motor swap. Got the head off and am having it cleaned up to install the bc3 cams and s/r I've had laying around while saving to buy another car for the motor swap (Andean agreement law doesn't allow for used imported cars or parts... legally) So while I had to save up for a complete car (for papers) to swap I scratched the itch by stocking up on parts every time I went home such as the stuff I mentioned plus a X-Trail gt head and turbo. Also brought a rare vlsd u13 Altima trans. I wanted to sell the VE head here but people don't know much about the 20v here and always low-ball. But I plan to put my safc2 and the gt2560 turbo, 444cc top feeds and intercooler on it after the motor swap.
So that's where I'm at, got head off and trying to get a local fellow forigner to port & polish it with me. He's well known for his work (elder German guy) but he takes weeks so we'll see.
Ah I also have a 92 Nissan céfiro a31 which has the carbed rb24 in it. That was a distraction but had to jump on it since they're pretty rare, we never even got them in the states. Two project cars are hard to build making local currency.
So while I'm introducing myself I'd like to get some input on stuff I've searched for but couldn't clarify...
I know de motors mostly have 9.5:1 compression vs the det at 8.5:1 but what makes the compression different, the Pistons? I cannot for the life of me find info on the u13 bluebird high port de without turbo. I'm guessing it's like the b13 Sr20 with 9.5:1.
But when I look at oem det Pistons, most look like my bluebirds... small dish and no valve reliefs (mine actually have very tiny valve reliefs).
So the main question is will bc3 cams fit stock de pistons without fly cutting valve reliefs or using thicker gaskets?
I also am told my lifters need to be replaced? and the first machine shop is saying they won't work with such an aggressive cam but I think they must be wrong since I haven't seen anything posted it being mandatory.
I guess I'll try to get new rr lifters since new cams are going in to be safe and I read RR ones are best for hi revs but shouldn't any lifter technically work with these cams?
