Anyone going?

Looks like we are bringing our crappy 200sx there.

We do have a spot open, one guy has not confirmed the time off of work.

17-18 April 2010
American Irony (Detroit MI)
Gingerman Raceway, South Haven MI

Practice April 16th

We would like to do it pretty close to an arrive and drive, you will likely have to do refueling. This is what you get;

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Cost is $500 and covers gas, soggy cold cuts, greasy grilled food, warm beverages. +$250 entry fee ($750 total)

For comparison read:

The wheel to wheel time is about 15 hours so expect at least 3 hours of seat time with 5 drivers. I will be the last driver out to make sure everyone else gets more seat time. Plus any practice time on Friday.

Have you done this race before with the same car? ..if yes, did it survive the entire race?

We will be there. White '91 SE-R. We're a team of all LeMons rookies, look out...

I'd say the car is 90% done, so if we're lucky it will be ready in time for the race, lol.

Here is the quick version:

B.S. inspection put us 10 laps down from the start. We started 45th.

Saturday:

We got black flag for a loose hood pin, put it back in and slapped on duct tape for good measure, in and out lost a couple laps.

I got a black flag for passing a safety vehicle (Suburban) that was pacing around @ 30 mph, driving off the line, put two wheels off and hit the brakes. Probably cost us 5+ laps.

End of saturday we made it to 4th overall.

Day One Of Racing Finished, Ectomobile Volvo Wagon In Top Ten - 24 Hours of LeMons Detroit - Jalopnik

Sunday the Mustang was having issues so we made it to 3rd overall and 10 laps down (this would have been 1st or 2nd without the B.S. laps). Then the Alt took a crap, we got another black flag. Four battery changes later we ended up in 7th.

If it wasn't for any ONE of those mistakes we would have easily taken third.

If it wasn't for ALL those mistakes, well, you get the picture.

We didn't bring our 'A' game and it showed.

7th aint to bad considering one guy had no track expereince, one guy only did half a track day, and none of us had ever been to Gingerman before. The car is still o.k. and no one got hurt so no complaints.

Wow, GREAT results for your amount of preparation. How many cars started the race?

We were up to 10th place in February but that was before noon on Saturday. It was all down-hill from there to a 71st place finish out of 120+ starters.
