Anyone interested in Road Racing

I will be racing at Sebring with my ITS SE-R on the 28th and 29th of February. If anyone is interested in hanging out and maybe helping a bit I can get 3 maybe 4 people in for free. You do not have to be an SCCA member to come if I put you on my crew list. But I will need to know soon who would like to go. If you enjoy watching racing, you will have fun. And if you help out, Lunch is on me!

What do I have to do?
Russell man, I would love to come and hangout, I've been wanting to go to a SCCA club racing event(thinking about getting a formula Vee to start racing meself)
I am in the SCCA too. :)
Uh oh reuniiiiionnnn timeeeeee for Anna and I.

Justin
Can you both go on both days ( Saturday and Sunday)? Or just one day. Make sure you check your schedules and confirm the days. If you can go I will put you on my crew list with my entry form that I need to mail THIS week.

I can still add a person later but it is easier to put you on the list when I mail in my entry.
Anna. If you already have an SCCA membership, I don't need to put you on my list. As long as you show up before registration closes, usually around noon, they will let you in. That goes for any club event. You will just need to sign the waiver etc...

That would give me room for more non members to come if there are any.

Anyone else want to go besides Anna and Justin?

I promise, If you are into cars and racing, you WILL have a good time! :)
my graduation is that weekend so i cant make it maybe some other time though

Yeah, I'll see if I can come, I've been wanting to go to the Sebring track to at least watch an event. Im already an SCCA member though.
Justin, uh...Crono that is, I will put you on my list if you want to go. I need to keep two spots open for my parents who want to come also. Anna and the other Justin (djmayhem), you two should just come on out, show them your membership card at the registration booth and hang out and have fun!

If you need more info, you can go to www.cfrscca.org
Russell, are we going to stay in a hotel up there? I have no idea where it is, just wondering.

Let me just say this about that.....

My wife was only able to find one hotel that was not booked for the weekend. I think that she reserved the last two rooms, one for me and one for my dad. From what she said, the rooms only have one bed each. If you would like to grab some floor space for free, I have no problem with that. If you would just rather go for one day, I don't have a problem with that either. It only takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get there from Orlando. It is an easy drive.

If you go to Denny's tomorrow night, we can talk about it.
Hi Russell. I sent in my entry form yesterday. I will be running in SPU.
I will keep in touch.
Andy R.
You know, I just kind of "blew" through this thread before. But, Andy pm'd me about it... and it "clicked".

For those of you who went to the 2003 Convention, Andy and Russell played follow the leader and switched places a number of times. They were the cleanest and most sportsmanship drivers out there, imo. Now, they weren't really racing but you could see the "mad" skills... no tire scrubbing no over revving, it was like looking at night and day.

So, even though there may not be any motels/hotels within the immediate area, provided my wife is feeling ok to travel, we'll all be there(twins and oldest son... watch out, they're damn cute).

Thanks, Andy, for pm' ing me about this.

Course, all weekend my wife will have to listen to my "I need to go to a driving school to get the most that I can out of my car". Her answer: "Oh yeah, you'll really need it for the drive to work, with traffic, do they teach racing for idiots going under 30 mph?".

Can you tell we've talked about this before?;)

Peace Out and keeping my fingers crossed,
Mark

I have another small question... what time does this kick off on Saturday? There's no way we'd be able to drive over Friday night and will have to leave early Saturday morning. From Tampa, I'm figuring about a 31/2 to 4 hour drive. I'd really like to see the both of you racing(Russell and Andy), even though you are in different classes. Still, gots to support our "community".

Peace Out,
Mark
This is the entry form. http://www.cfrscca.org Registration usually closes around 10am. It maby harder to get into the track after they close.
Thanks for the web site, Andy. I'll peruse it and find out if we can get into the track after 10 am. If not, that'll put a huge crimp in driving over... can't leave Friday night, and we'd have to leave by 6:00 am Saturday to get there by 10... impossible with 3 little kids.

We'll try and figure something out, if not for Saturday, maybe for Sunday.

Peace Out,
Mark

Mark. If you get there after registration, you can still watch the racing, you just won't be allowed into the paddock area where we will be.

Plus, I don't think it should take that long (3 and 1/2 hours) from Tampa. It is barely 2 hours from Oralndo and it is south south west of me. Seems like it is at least that close to Tampa.

Yeah, mapquest says its 1 hour and 53 minutes, and I believe thaey base that @60 mph.

I always add time when all 3 kids are in the car, plus my wife has a bladder the size of an olive pit. I think I'll focus on leaving Friday night and staying some place no more than an hour away. May even take 2 cars, my Classic and the Mom van. That way, I can bring my oldest son to the track with me and my wife can take the twins with her to go shopping... kaching kaching kaching. I actually like this choice best since we won't be getting out and about for a few months after this.

Making plans and scratching my .... bald spot;).

Peace Out,
Mark
Wish I could come. I'll be there a week and a half after at the Panoz school getting my license though! I'll lay some tire marks down for you guys to see the next time your there...
