I'm gonna start saving for some suspension but I don't know what to get.
The AGX/GC setup looks nice, and I have seen them in action. Price breakdown of those-
KYB AGX 4x150= $600
GC Coilover w/Eibach Springs= $399
So about a $1000 for those.

The Teins are about $1200, don't know much about these

The K-Sport's are less but I don't like some of the reviews.

The Progress are $1270.75, don't know much about these either.

Any other options?

I like to Autocross and I need something alot stiffer than what I have (stock). Right now I can get the left rear tire to come off the ground at least 6" (I have it on video), and that isn't acceptable.

Road comfort isn't that big of a deal to me, but it is a daily driver so they need to last long. I want the car to be lower as well, but not scraping the damn ground.

I don't know about spring rates for our cars either. Any input is appreciated...

Oh, BTW, I am convinced with out a doubt that the absolute best daily driver+HPDE/autocross setup is the Koni paired with GC sleeves and a real front perch the kills 99% of any rattles (all coilovers can make some noise). Pair that with a 300-325# 10 inch front spring, GC Camber Plate. Set the rideheight to and 1.5 or so below stock. That leaves you with stock levels of suspension travel. I would stack it up against anything anyone else makes in the 1200 price range.
There's one answer for you.

A couple other thoughts:

Wheels and tires will make a huge difference.

Cusco FSTB, Active Tuning RSTB

Progress RSB

Make sure whatever you do is legal in the class you want to run.

you can get kyb agx's on ebay for $434 shipped all day long. then try to pick up either some hypercos or RM's for $250-$325 shipped. new spring pads $60, alignment $75. total: about $850. thats what i plan to do this summer.

What about a custom Koni setup with the GC coilovers? I'm not too worried about the price, I just want the best setup.

Edit that is what Shawn posted...

I wonder how much those run.

The best is going to be either Koni Maxima fronts with B14 rears, or Koni 8611 with custom housings.

The cost is a little higher than the above, but worth it if you are serious.

PM me for a price on the 8611 if your interested...

Keep in mind that is not my knowledge, I'm relatively clueless.

That is Steves wisdom which is far more valuable than mine concerning suspensions.
Get something that is shortened. Koni or Progress.
Shortened struts, no doubt about it. If it does not include shortened struts it is not the "best setup."

I have a 96 ser, which I auto-x in DSP.I like my Tien ss dampers.I'm running 8kg springs in the front, and 6kg in the rear.I'm using Stillen strut bars front & rear,St sway bar in front, stillen rear. It's very competitive regionally & divisionally,we'll see in the fall about nationally. Evrybody has an opinion on what works for them, these suit my driving style.
I tried a couple of set-ups before this that didn't work for me.KYB agx's w/Eibachs(SH*T),agx's w/H&R springs,(better, but not great),then the Tien's (Tah dah!).I don't daily drive on them, but it does see a lot of miles to and from the events, and it rides pretty well.My .02,hope it helps.

You say that you do not care about ride, but it's a daily driver. You might regret the "not caring" part. I have found AGX to be pretty jarring at low speeds on my B13, even with stock springs. The Konis are much more civilized, and you can shorten the strut to give yourself more travel in the front.

Also, I have tried a variety of aftermarket springs and never been able to eliminate noise in the rear over choppy roads. When I switch back to stock springs, the noise goes away. So, although I love the handling and ride, the noise is a problem for me in a daily driver.

My setup for a daily driver: Shortened konis, White Line springs and sway bars. If I had it do do over again (which I do if I can find the energy to swap the suspension AGAIN), I would go with Konis, White Line Bars (I find these well balanced and QUIET), and stock springs.

Lots of opinions out there -- lots depends on your personal preference and tolerance for NVH.

Enjoy the ride.

The inserts are already for the most part shortened. It's the housings really that need to be shortened.

Can you buy these konies shortened already or is this something you have to do yourself? If you can buy them where do you get them?
See this thread:

http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=170794

It covers the Custom Shortened Konis in detail. It includes a link to another thread in the Technical Library that shows you how to do them yourself.

You can get them done by Steve (98sr20ve).

I am pretty sure that vielside180sx could do a set for you (he posted just above me) and he does fantastic work. I think I used his pictures in the Suspension Thread (link posted above).

Finally, here is one more source:

That gentlemen also appears to do great work.

Also one other thing and I have not seen it covered that doesnt mean it has not been but i have not seen it. I have Motivational Engineering Strut Mounts for my rear. Can these be used with a Shortened Koni ground Control setup for maximum travel or do the ground control kits require stock mounts? Or there own?

The Moti rear setup was originally made for Koni rears, so of course you can use them...

Thanks shawn I have read many of your post and your suspension research truely is nice work.
You're welcome. It is one thing I can contribute to the forum, I don't have much personal mechanical knowledge. However, I can research with the best of them.

That is one certifiable bad-ass suspension.

I quoted that article, you, and the link in the Suspension Thread. :biggthump

Damn jesus crappy nissan suspension! gotta make everything so hard lol

Ok so to get things in perspective

Are there any spings/shocks that I could buy, and install right outta the box and be cool with? I love my car to death but **** i dont wanna have to spend days figuring out what ratio i should do with what

I use mine as a daily driver and dont plan on taking it to the track, just want something i can screw around with and mess with people on the freeway
