I no longer have room in the engine compartment for the battery and was going to move it.

Does anyone know if relocating the battery to behind the passenger seat is safe and/ or legal on the tracks? Should i just stick with the trunk?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

charles

summit and jegs sells a battery relocation kit for about50 and up. it's ok for the track. the passenger side rear would be ok.

Thanks for your reply. I have the summit trunk relocation kit that you mentioned and i am worried that if i put it in the drivers compartment they will give me a hard time at the drag strip.

I know there are some small rules like you must have an ON/OFF switch mounted on the outside of your car if you have your battery in the trunk but is there any other i need to keep in mind?

Nobody wants to find out the day of the race that they can't compete because of something petty. Does anyone know where i can get a set of the NHRA rules?

If the battery is in the same space as the driver then it needs to be in a box. Even batteries that don't vent.. Those are the rules I've heard, in addition to what you mentioned.

does it have to be vented to the outside?

That is the best place from what i hear. I tried to get mine there but their is just not enough space in an 88 sentra to install it there clean.
