I am wondering the boundaries of valve clearance in relation to running SR16 pistons (12:1 in a DE) w/ C3 cams and cam gears. I know that with the cams at 0* there will be no piston/valve clearance probs, but what about when advancing/retarding as much as 2.5*?

It doesnt become and issue until you are over 5 degrees, but let me tell you, you run out of piston to valve clearance before the engine stops responding. Custom pistons with deeper valve relifes are needed with these motors badly.

yeah, i would do that, but i might just put a motor together for now until i go back to school for auto perf. stuff where i can really build the motor, you know?
