If it is anything like my 97 SE-R, I don't think you really need it. You'll have to toss it if you want to go with the CAI. I have a short stack, so my resonator box just sits there.

I took mine out on my 92 about a year ago in preperation for putting in a CAI. But I never ordered the CAI so I'm currently running the stock intake with no resonator. Havn't noticed any difference with it out so I don't really see a point in taking it out.

Which resonator you talking about? the one in the fenderwell or the one on the bottom of the intake? both are there to quieten down the intake. the one under the intake is nothing just a bottle, so you can cap off the hole with a gatorade bottle lid(ala eric). the one in the fender well is there to take in "cool" air and quieten the intake. you can remove it if you want, doubt it will do anything. if you have a pop might as well remove it. pound or so in weight. cai, you will have to remove it. so its just do you want to wrench on your car or not

I tossed both resonators today. One quick question though. I stuck a gatorade bottle cap in the hole. Then I squeezed down the clamp that was already on there just in front of it to keep it from getting sucked in. Is this what everyone else did?

That's what I did before I put a CAI in the '91.

Red,

Toss Away!

It just gets in the way of the cooler air to come up through the opening (If your running a POP) I know it ain't much but what the hell, It's just taking up space in your fender!

On the bottom of the tube goign from the MAF to the TB there is a box that is about 1" in diamater. Its the largest hole in the intake so you cant miss it really. Its a black "jug" bolted to either the fender or a bracket from the motor mount/battery tray I dont remember which it is at the moment. But its just like a canteen or something just one hole going in. All it is there to do is quieten down the intake noise by creating harmonic waves. I havent pluged mine up yet cause I didnt even think about it. But will be removing that in about 2 weeks probaly. When Im doing all the work to my car.
