How the heck are you suppose to remove the big lower odd shaped screw to let the tranny fluid drain out? Do I need some sort of tool to fit the odd shape? I tried a 1/2 wrench that looked like it might fit but it would slip. Any ideas?

Use the actual rachet itself without a socket on it.

I tried using just the rachet but it required so much force that it would slip before I could get it to budge. I think the last owner might have stripped it a little. Any tips on loosening it up?

What is a breaker bar?

a breaker bar is a 12-24 inch rachet handle with no rachet, just a 1/2 or 3/8 drive socket plug on the end. it is basically a really long rachet that doesn't rachet. it lets you exert more force upon a given area because the handle is longer, which makes the mechanical advantage higher...
