My NX just got smashed!!! My front end is toast! OH WELL. I'm going to the body shop monday, hopefully they won't total it out.

Well I just got back from the body shop, it'll cost about $2500 to repair, and depending on how fast the parts arrive, could take up to four weeks! Good thing I'm insured.

ya, body shops can take a long time, especially if they are good and there is a wait, kinda sucks but you know you are going to get your car back looking good, my little brother just tapped somebody in his integra and had to replace his bumper, ect, and they took about three weeks to fix it, but came back looking new but ya, that sucks about your car, I would probably have a heart attack if I wrecked mine, or kill someone if the hit me

Yeah, I did want to kill at first. Especially since it was a ford mustang owner that decide to make a right turn into a driveway from the #2 lane! and he had the nerve to ask if I was running with my lights out!

sudden death!!!!!!!!!!! it could only be worse if you got hit by some chick in an Excursion talking on her cell phone drinking her starbucks frappichino putting on makeup while driving with her feet on the steering wheel while on cruise control going down a residential street going 50 and then acting like its your fault b/c you drive some "little civic looking car"

I hope that it's fixable, and I'm sorry to hear about the accident.

I don't know if it's different down there in the US, but up here, if your car's written off, you can still buy it from the ins. co. and build it back up yourself.

A cheap way to do this would to buy a junker, something that's been rearended, and use the front of it on your car. This is a very useful link for finding cars - they have interior and exterior photos of the cars as well

I just got back from the bodyshop, and I have bad news and good news:
First the bad news; It's gonna cost $4000.00 to fix!
Now the good news; My car WON'T be totalled out! Whew! Had the car had just a little more damage it would have been a total lose.

However, I was prepared for the worse. I saw a burgandy '91 NX2000 in a used car lot.
Well any way, for another $800.00, I can have the rest of the car painted. It needs it, parking lot dings, scratches, nicks, etc.
Now I'll have to figure out what I'll be driving for the next three weeks.

hey spnx, did you see the thing on the Discovery channel last night about the bad mechanics and how they mended two cars together and sold it as a good car. Ya your idea would work, until subculture got into another wreck (it happens, I hope never again though). the car they wrecked on pourpose just buckled where they welded it, kinda funny though b/c they did the show in england and it was a Escort Cosworth. they also did things with Peugots and a few other non American cars I would love to own.

ya, if your car was totaled, you could still buy it back from the insurance company, and just to be a good sport, you would have sent me your engine righ? I would make good use of it (I would try the ka24de stroker trick)

No, I didn't see that, but I've heard of it before. I had more of the idea of just using the hood and fenders from the car, rather than stitching it together like some kind of "Frankencar" ;-)

That's a lot of damage, glad the car wasn't totalled.

BTW, I'm going to get my apillar replaced, dents taken out, and full respray done for $2000 Canadian. I had the quote yesterday.

I've heard about the old body shop trick of buyin' a salvage car and doing just enough repairs to sell it as good.
I would have neede more than just the hood and fenders. I have a two page list off all the replacement parts! I HATE FORDS!!!!!

There is no place where it's warm all the time. No. In BC, it's a little warmer than here (Toronto), but it's not Florida, by any means.

Subzero temps in the winter, 80-95+ degrees in the summer...

My apillar rust has spread under my windshield, so it's good that I'm doing it soon.

Hey, you should have seen the list of repairs when my dad got in an accident with his 240. It was just a year old (in 1996), and there was about $12,000 damage, including suspension damage. It's fixed, and you'd never even know it was in an accident. Even the alignment specs are ok. I'm sure your car will turn out fine too.
