OK, venturing into uncharted territory for me.

Are there any differences between the BLOCKS of the FWD and RWD SR20DET. Assume same year range(S14)(I need to find out exact year), do not include GTiR.

I have access to an S14 block less intake/exhaust manifolds. Can this block be used with the FWD tranny/manifolds/etc? If

I choose to go turbo, I'd like to use this engine for the buildup for the obvious reasons - compression ratio/oil squirters/out of car/370CC injectors/etc.

OK, lets hear some answers/links from you savvy forced-induction fellows.

It would be a Royal PITA to use a RWD block in a FWD app. The intake mani is bassakwards and the radiator hose outlets are diffrent. I'm not sure but I think the motor mounts are also diffrent.

From the pics I've see of it, there's no way. Look in the Silvia pics of the off topic forum. Even the distributor is in a different place.

Grab yerself a cheap S13 and drop her in

Well one thing there is no front motor mount, there is a fan in the way on the RWD det. but the mounts are totaly different along with some different things like the intake and exhaust manifold, coolent outlets, distrubter. not worth the trouble, like they said find you an old 240 with a blown motor and drop it in. still will be a pain in the butt but most swaps are.

ya, the mounts are diffrent, but thats about it for the block. basically, no way in hell you could get a rwd det in a fwd car w/o major unneeded work (just put a fwd one in there, or better yet, a gri-r engine in)

I knew the manifolds were different - figured the motor mounts were too. Thanks for the input. May just strip it of the good parts - oil squirters, pistons, cams....

BTW, when I DO buy an S13 with a blown motor, it WILL have a different method of aspiration. ;-)

Fwd crank shaft can work in the rwd motor and vice versa. Just a pilot bushing will be need if usuing a fwd crank on a rwd block. I currently have a front wheel drive motor on a rear wheel drive gearbox. Rear wheel drive motors are getting crazy expensive
