I'm just wondering at the possabilities here. Has anyone approached Nissan and said "if we get X number of signatures, will you fix our transmissions?" Most importantly, has anyone been injured in an accident as a direct result of 5th gear popping out? I really think that is the only way a recall will be announced.
Please understand I am not trying to belittle your attempt here. I own a '92 SE-R and dread the day mine will begin popping out. I'm trying to be realistic. They will laugh at 200 signatures. 2000 might raise one eyebrow. 20,000 signatures, now you're getting somewhere.
It has been my experience that the only way a car will ever be recalled is if the defect has the possibility of causing an accident. Examples: the headlights going out on the first Lexus LS400s, the defective front suspensions on the new Ford Exloders, Firestone tires, etc. Even things like the first AEM bypass valves that supposedly deteriorated and caused the throttle to stick open. All those are defects that can cause serious accidents. As far as I know, 5th gear popout doesn't fall in that category.
Good luck.
