I had wanted to get a CAI as one of the first mods for my car until I read the horror stories of hydrolocking an engine because of bad rains. I live in northern Kansas and we go from bone dry summers to inches of snow in the winter and massive rains in between. This is actually my girlfriends car and what we use to travel with the kids so I can't do anything to jeopardize its well being or drivability. I had given up on the idea of a CAI until I found out the AEM air bypass was only around $40. For those who have it, does it work like its supposed to? Anyone submerged their filter and live to drive again? If I were to damage the engine in any way because of a mod I put on, well lets not think about the outcome. I'm just wondering if the valve would foolproof a CAI or if I should do without.
