Not one for quoting hp numbers and definitely one of the few who at least partially understand the theory.

Take the time out to read the following article, also read the suggested additional articles in the links at the end of the first.

I have tried sometimes to constructively challenge peoples numbers, however it usually ends up confrontational.

This is close to the best grouped set of reading from reputable sources that I have come across.

Definitely check out the Pumaracing site that is linked at the bottom. A very good site...

You are lucky in the US that most dynos will plot whp, whereas in the UK most try to calculate crank figures. I am the same m8, most of the time people get pissed when I point out that a 30% loss at peak hp is ridiculous and just to use the wheel figures as that's what is measured. I'm also jet to see a dyno in the UK that shows the correction factor so figures may be skewed without you knowing.

My latest experiments with streetdyno have been pretty good.
