just want to thank all that have put their input into this forum....any of the advice and tips i was able to use were spot on and contributed greatly to my new ride....i race 1/4 mile paved oval in the hornet (basically stock) class at Agassiz speedway in Agassiz b.c. Canada. i raced a honda prelude last year with good success but everybody is racing hondas now and i wanted something different....i picked up a 93 nx2000 as an insurance write-off and, with the help of all of the forum contributors, decided to make this my new ride....
having very strict ruled regarding mods, i bumped the timing to 19deg and run 94 oct...did an abs delete...and stripped the car to the bone...had to put a single hoop roll bar in and welded it to the roof to give this t-top car some backbone...welded tin over the t-roof holes and welded in some pipe in the t-roof opening and now it is just as sturdy as a hard top
[/IMG][/IMG] unfortunately i didn't test things properly before race day and was hit with a slipping clutch...well it wasn't going to get any better so i went through hot laps and was still passing people..inside,outside..it didn't matter...this motor just sings at 7,000rpm...but the slipping was unnerving...28 cars to time in...timed in third last and when i pulled off the track i was told that the tech guy wanted to see the car ( i thought i was spilling fluid or something)...i just beat the track record by almost 2/10ths..shocked and amazed...started 14th in the main (40 laps and i didn't think it would last)...we invert the top 14 cars from time ins and put 4 provisionals at the back to make it an 18 car field...15 laps in and i am at the front pulling away...lapped all but 4 cars and won by half a lap..with a blown clutch...these cars and this motor (sr20) is amazing!!!! new clutch going in before next race and i am almost frightened as to what this car might do...i will post pics of the race when they come available...of the 28 cars out on opening day 22 were hondas, 1 1995 eagle talon, 1 89 240sx, 1 old pontiac sunbird, 1 1999 ford focus, 1 95 ford escort gt and me. thanks again for selling me on the potential of this car...this season looks like a fun one...check out Agassiz Speedway / Agassiz Speedway if you like (the updates are slow)

That sounds like some fun racing. We want to see video of all that passing, especially when you get the new clutch. Congratulations on your success.

Steve, maybe we should take an NX up to Grandview?

Curt, once you get it running right, they'll probably outlaw the car :eek2: ...might want to win by "just enough" next time. ;)

Cool. Around here multivalve engines are not allowed in 4 cylinder stock cars :squint:

THEY ARE ALREADY TALKING OF DIVIDING THE CLASS INTO AN A AND B DIVISION....BRING IT ON AS IT IS ALMOST A HAZZARD TO HAVE THE SLOWER CARS OUT ON SUCH A SMALL TRACK WHEN THE FAST CARS ARE OUT...I'M SURE THAT THEY MIGHT IMPOSE THE WEIGHT PENALTY AFTER A FEW RACES....DIFFICULT TO HANDLE WITH AN EXTR 100LB OF LEAD IN THE RIGHT FRONT FLOOR PAN AREA
