what would you guys do? buy a fmax stage 2 for my 180k good running sr20de, or buy a full sr20det avenir motor that would have half of the power but in better shape... what do you guys think, maybe buy some internals for my de and fmax it ? i dont know just looking to hear some of your guys feed back!! i hate when i have these hard decisions. more power or more reliability.. sucks

"what would you do if you had 4500 to spend on turbo'ing your 1992 nissan sentra se-r with 180k" i cant decide, sence i might be getting a avenir for like 1100... or would you pay more and go with a clean motor from andreas!! i think i need to talk to andreas..

Do a compression check to determine the health of your current engine. If it comes out good then go Fmax. If it looks like there are problems with your current engine then go with a det.

hmm... how much longer do you plan on keeping this car? I mean.... 180k is a lot of mile, PERIOD. It would be nice to have a much newer motor. Besides, it's tough putting down more than even 230whp on street tires in 2nd gear :)

OK honestly..this is what i did...I had 150k on my old motor and i made a kit myself(pretty much like the F-max) but i had a super 60 T3 w/50lbs and a cobra MAF. I then used and abused that motor for a good couple of months playing with boost levels and getting addicted to boost then forgot(what a dumb ass)to check the oil and blew it up about 6 months later. Then i got a JDM SR20 and drilled/tapped the block drove that for last summer...now this summer(same JDM SR20) upgraded to a T3T04E stage III with a 50trim/.50a/r, hitting 15psi 2nd gear is worthless and the car hauls some serious ass!!!!
Basically what im saying is boost is very addictive and you get used to the power, i've seen WAY TOO many people go from a T25-T28 to a F-Max style kit with T3T04E's. A JDM is 500 bux(WOW thats alot!!HAHA) Do the F-MAX and if you blow the motor buy a new one!!!! You'll be happy

that is something i would very very much get addicted to also. i just cant decide weather to go with reliability first... but u make a really good point. i would most likly go with a det long block. but yea i will look for a goood deal for some turbo kits.! if you know of where i can get a good 250 300 whp kit tell me please ;)

I also like the T3T4e set up since you can stay out of boost if you want.
On another note, you live in Ca. what about smog checks, etc?

Nah man, I'm not trying to shoot down your goals. I remember seeing others in Ca. have issues with emissions. Just throwing in a taste of reality :D

issues isnt the word !!! its more along the lines of where f***ed with emissions! trust me i know ive been dealing with it for numbers of years now....either at the end of every 2 years i swap in my old de motor. or i pay around 200 for some shady smog shop to hook me up with a fake one... theres alotttt of people in cali with non smog legal cars, if theres a will theres a way :D
