Has anyone got a DET to pass inpection? Specifically NJ inspection? Is it possible? I don't wanna pay $2600 to not be able to pass inspection. How much do shops usually charge to do that swap?

from what i heard passing the sniffer is pretty easy. if its running well and cat is in good shape. but doubt it will pass visual but i could be wrong
guess it depends on if you know the inspector or they dont do visual. i know like nashville they just sometimes put a mirror under there to see if you got a cat and then put the sniffer in the tail pipe. a stock det runs just as clean as a de i do believe. grab the code book and read see what they require. and ask around see if they do a hood pop visual. go to a shop around there ask the people what they have done with motor swaps...like honda shops or people like the muscle car guys.

There is two ways of getting inspected in NJ. 1) you can go to the state inspection place (free) or you could go the a private inspection station. I beleive there is a random visual. So the state could be hit or miss. As far as the private goes I dont think they much care as long as you pass emissions and the car is safe. Either way you should not have a problem with emitions. Where are you thinking about getting it done?

I have decided to go with a custom built kit for my stock DE, seeing as how I only have 61k on it. I will probrably try state first, then go to a private if I fail. I was also tossing up the idea of not doing anything and just waiting for the New Z(awsome looking) or the New SE-R.
