I was just looking on Amazon and a few other book sellers online, and although there were a few user reviews for book about Nissan engines, import tuning, etc, I trust the opinions on this board a lot more than the Amazon "user" reviews...

I'm looking for something that will explain how to do tuning, maintenance, repair, etc... it doesn't have to specifically be for the SR20DE, but the more detail towards our engines, the better. I don't have a particularly high level of mechanical skill, but I've done oil changes, fixed brake pads, etc. a few times, mostly in my teens helping my dad... I'm not a complete beginner, in other words. Still, I feel I need a better understanding of how a modern engine works, and I would prefer more "plain" language...

Any suggestions? If you can, I would appreciate the title and author name, and if possible, the publisher, so I can try to order online. (I live in Japan... no place to buy English books retail here...)

Hmmm.. and I thought I'd been through every single page on SE-R net.. the only thing I remember seeing is something about the FSM... but it is a massive site, so I'll have another look.

I would think the Primera FSM is in Japanese... I can read Japanese fairly well, but I'm kind of hesitant fixing or taking apart my car going by a book I'm "fairly sure" I understand... ;)

Even the G20 book would help, I think, but certain things, like the environmental control gear, and even the exhaust is different on the Primera than the G20... I'm going to pick up a book I saw on the Primera, but I wouldn't mind something that goes beyond the factory specs, and into tuning... I want a more basic understanding of how engines work, in specifics. (I understand generally, but I want more detail...) Any people who've learned car repair in school have any advice?

There was an old book on Amazon for 80's Nissan "L" cars that looked like a good start... interesting, if not completely relevant to my car. Something like "Repairing/Rebuilding your Nissan/Datsun overhead cam engine"... anyone read it?

masuzushi,
When I recommended SE-R.net I wasn't sure if you had been to the site before or if you recently stumbled across this UBB without seeing SE-R.net.
More info on how modern engines works, I've been learning a lot from Mike Kojima's articles "Suck, squish, bang, blow" in Sport Compact Car. I know its in the latest issue ( how camshafts work (May or is it the June edition?)) and the December issue, and I'm going to backorder the July and August issues. Great detail and simple, yet technical, explanations.

I don't know of any books like you want. I posted that same question to the list and all I got back was "se-r.net".
There is so much info there that I dont think I'll ever find all of it.
