This has me floored.....My brother is GIVING me his JWT ECU!! I asked him why, and he claims he is fitting an experimental ECU in his Classic and 200sx that "automatically adjusts itself to aftermarket modifications that you have, icluding Turbo and NOS" I don't know where the hell he's getting that from, but how good is this JWT ECU, and is it worth installing? This is out of a 91 classic, and I have a 93 Classic-will this cause problems?

Take it quick before he changes his mind!

I don't think an ECU can automatically adjust for turbo and NOS. It needs some kind of input. I could be wrong though since I've never messed with that stuff.

if it's for free ,it's for me! try it you'll like it. depends on what kind ofprogram he has in there. I have the computer too but I think it just removes the rev lmiter and speed control thing, also fuel and timing curves are tuned better whatever that means.

That's what he said....I don't know how the hell it's supposed to work either, but anyone that can figure out how to get a 250hp NOS system to work on a Stock bottom end SE-R motor(without grenading it), has to know something that I don't...He claims that there is a programmer that works out of a speed shop in Iowa that's figured out a way to program a computer that literally adjusts itself while you drive. You program is a code from a laptop, or somesort of computer port input(kinda like the GM "chips" that they have now) and drive the car for 15 minutes, and viola' it's now programmed to the upgrades that you have. I know, it sounds a little far-fetched to me, but he's supposed to send me more info on it when he can get his hands on soemthing more concrete.

250 Shot on stock bottom end- NO WAY!

Your brother may be talking about a Stand Alone System used by most High Horsepower Turbo/NOS Hondas. Some of these require custon tuning/programming with a lab top computer on a dyno. There are a lot of different Stand Alone Systems on the market. SDS, Federal Mogul Speed Pro, Tec II, Motec, Etc... If you brother doesn't have a turbo , i would suggest he stay with the JWT ECU. The JWT ecu has been used on 500+ hp turbo SR20's. You can get Water injection programs, NOS programs, Drag launch programs, turbo programs, etc all in a repogrammed ECU tuned by JWT. What more could you ask for?

Take it and run! Let you brother deal with all the nightmares associated with Stand Alone Systems.

That's what I figured it was-It was definitely not an EPROM, because you can't access that through an uplink. However, he says that he COULD access info on it through an uplink, not that he HAS to. Like I said, this is something that's not even out of the testing phase, so I'll get everyone more info as it becomes available. BTW, I WILL take that JWT and run, thanks! How much power does that JWT put out, anyway?

ON a bolt onn car it really does not give you more power. It will give you a righer rev limiter. get rid of the stupid speed limiter if you hav a B14. It also give you differant fule maps and stuff like that.

So, it isn't like the old Hypertech chips that I had in my 86 Z-28, huh? That gave good part-and full-throttle gains(very small-I think my Z gained maybe .25 secs in 0-60 ans quarter mile times), and helped with keeping the fuel injection (carburetor)and rev limiter operating at a higher effeciency. I have a B13, which understand is "better" than any of the other motors because of the cams-Is that true? So this computer will do s**t unles I have alot of performance mods?

No.
You should give it to me

It will raise your rev limit by 300 rpm and has more aggressive fuel/timing maps. You will have to run 91+ octane and set your timing to 15-16 degrees.

Classic guys:
Are there any emissions differences in the 91 to the 93 that he should worry about? AIV or anything?

So I HAVE to set the timing???This computer doesn't do that **** for you? Damn, I want the "old' computer chips I had back! The problem is, I had a sweet timing light, but some jackoff stole it-I guess I'll have to find a place that rents them. Now, to set the timing, do I have to shut off the car, and then dial in? Where are the timing points located on the Balancer? Hmmm...Maybe I should try that "Wayne Cox HP trick" while I'm at it......

Chris, the jwt is a learning computer. The more you do, the better it works. Some list members claim an improvement of 2/10's in the 1/4 mile. On the dyno doesn't show much hp gain, 3-5 hp. But throttle reponse is alot nicer with the computer. My .02

I bought the standard type timing light (not dial back timing light) for $35 at a chain autoparts store.
