I've had a power steering hose leak and it's made a bit of a mess in the engine bay. It uses a dexronII automatic transmission fluid in the power steering system.

My car is an AWD Primera (G20) so you can imagine how cramped things are behind the engine. Access to the mess is almost impossible without removing the intake manifold & plenum.

I'm not sure what this stuff does to paint/rubber/wiring etc. so I'm keen to clean it up.

Any tips on the best way to wash it off? Hot water? Hot soapy water? Cold soapy water? Stern words?

I'm a bit wary of the aerosol degreasers - years ago I used some CRC degreaser on another car and ended up with all sorts of wiring insulation problems afterwards.

I think I'll try the Simple Green and follow it up with some high pressure down at WashWorld.

BTW, Nissan NZ wanted to rape me $450NZ (US$315) for a replacement hose and have to wait for it to come from Japan. I got Enzed, a local hydraulic specialist, to remake the hose using my old fittings with a swivel joint added into it for NZ$80 (US$56). Hope it doesn't leak

Thanks for the tips guys.
