Well, finally got a chance to dyno my car on saturday thanks to a group dyno day held by some nissan people. Shop used a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer, and did a 4th gear pull. I'm running a Protech equal length turbo header, t3/t04e 50 trim stage 3 .63 a/r, s3 cams, profec b, 3" exhaust (cat, resonator, muffler, mandrel bends), c16 race fuel @ 17° advanced timing, and the rest in my sig. First pull @ 16psi got me 319.6hp and 276.6 ft/lbs torque. turned up the boost to 18psi and got 339.1hp and 287.2 ft/lbs torque, egt's @ 1300. was a back to back run, so didn't get to turn down my fuel pressure, and bump timing more. i seem to be running really rich, and power starts to dip early @ 6500. i have cam gears set to 2.5° retarded intake, and 2.5° advanced exhaust per jwt's recommended setup. recommended, but i figure i gotta mess around with this to get it where i want. not too bad, but needs more tuning.

i might be wrong but i think jwt says that the cam gears are best set to that and you should run it at 15 deg timing. so you might need to play with the cam gears if you wanna bump timing.
by the way thats still some decent numbers.

Yeah, I think the power shouldn't dip that early. Mine stay pretty flat from 5k-7k and doesn't dip til after that. Granted, that's at 250whp, not quite as much as you're making :) Did it do it at all power levels?

Not bad, take it back when u have enough money and tune those cam gears. See if you can pick up a AFC or something to lean it out a little, that thing is pig rich on race gas!!! more hp is to be had.
interesting numbers, though I can't see the charts. I dropped 305whp and 295 torque at 15 psi with no cams. I wonder why he only hit 319 at 17psi? Definityl get in there and tune those cam gears up, you should pull more on the HP and torque side. Also, I thought with the S3 cams it was best to just install them with no cam gears.

OK, i copy and pasted the links to those pics and they came up. The power is dropping off waayyy early like the rest of you said. That is weird. Mine was a flat line all the way to cutoff for HP and the torque was about the same. I hate comparing to my charts, but it is all I have to make a comparison on.

Wow, your power curve realy ends too soon. Those A/F ratios are pretty crazy....something is wrong for sure...it's almost like you have a 370cc program and are using 50lb's.

At any rate, with some tuning you will be getting some monster power numbers!
Nice Numbers Brian, now just get that thing fine tuned and you'll have a great monster on your hands.
Very nice numbers, I wouldnt mind putting down numbers like those:)

Hmm... I don't think it's the cam timing as I have my cams setup the same way. I haven't gotten a good look at the dyno chart. What's your A/F? (edit: just saw your A/F, that's rich as hell!) I'm not familiar with performance characteristics of your turbo but it seems to be of a smaller trim and A/R. So it might just be that the turbo is running out of steam up top.

Edit: Did you mess with the TPS any? If so, you need to reset the TPS idle memory. Heck, I'd reset it anyway as they fixed my running rich prob.
well, at first i was pretty happy with my numbers, 339.1whp, but then it's like, hmm there's more to be had, not happy haha. i should've baselined @ my normal settings, 10lbs 91 octane and started from there. anyhow, even with stock cams, s3 cams without cam gears, i did feel the powerband just flatten out, or dip as indicated by the dyno sheet. maybe i'll take it to jwt and see what they have to say. probably something with the program. any other suggestions? has anyone ran a afcII, emanage, with a jwt ecu?
great numbers im hopin to pull similar numbers if not more, ill be runnin a .57 trim with stage 3 turine n .63 AR garrett

are all of you guys stck blocK ? i got JWT S3 cams in my car also, and 3 inch VRS exausst . 580CC injectors and Emanage.
320hp on a car that seriously needs tuning? Wish I was so lucky!
Start with a baseline at sock boost, 15 degreee timing, 91 octane and 0 on the cam gears. The settings on the gears as you have now will give you a higher peak hp but will fall off alot quicker. After your baseline runs start with the intake cam by advancing it 2 degrees. After your intake cam is set try the exhaust cam at -1 degree. If your happy with the power curve you can then move onto your timing and then fuel pressure. Remember this is all done at stock boost. After everything is set to your liking then you can pump up the boost. When you get your figures then you can add some racigas to see where that takes you.
thanks bro, that's the info i was looking for in terms of the power drop off. although, my impression is that retarding the intake will hold the valves open longer, and retarding the exhaust will net in higher peak hp? and i do have the jwt gears, so 2.5° increments.
No problem. Remember when you adjust the gears there is a tradeofff between peak power and power delivery. You just want to find the right median. If you have Sport Compact Car magazine for November 2003 look at the article "Road racing for $7000". Read the section on Cam tuning. The article doesnt show the the dyno charts but the actuall magazine does.
