i know the AC robs the engine of power but its feel so much more drastic in my SE-R.... even when i have it at the lowest level it feels like a slug, especially on the lower RPM range in 1st and 2nd gear.

on others cars i cant even feel the difference... on my SE-R it feels like a 3cyl geo metro engine pulling a BMW750iL....

I here you. I was just thinking about that coming home from work today with the AC on. It feels like it robs at least 25% of the power. I don't think its just the classics...since I drive a 99 se.

shat, man, shat...

i guess pulleys are the only way to go, esp in this TX weather... i was contemplating to buy a CAI at first. im a broke student so i dont exactly have alot of money at my disposal...

can anybody with pulleys give me a review? do they feel stronger than other mods? or should i just start with the intake anyways?

You guys just saved me some money!
I can't beleive how sluggish it feels with the AC on the freeway. You let off on the gas and it feels like putting the brakes on!
I was beginning to think that the AC was broke and was going to have it checked. Although my mechanic probably would not have charged me anything if it wasn't broke!

Would the pullies really reduce the power lost because I hate using my a/c just for that reason. I let people in my car nearly dehydrate before I put on the a/c.

You can actually feel the car get sluggish, if you are just crusiin aorund on a road stayin at a steady speed or something...as soon as you hit the ac button, you can feel/hear the engine strain, lol.

Guys,

Well, here in Georgia, a man would have to be pretty dedicated to scrap his A/C. I really don't feel much of a difference. I have a 1991 SE-R. Is there any difference in the air conditioners from year to year?

I am in the Nevada Dessert and my '91 is my first car to have working AC after a summer of using it off and on and hatting the gas mileage and power loss i just bypassed it. Real men don't need AC (ducks).

how much is power is restored using the pullies with the a/c on and how much a/c power is lost using the pulley?

here in fl, a/c is very handy. (at least when the wife is in the car

Well, the gain with the UR pulleys is dynoed at around 6hp....so if you have the UR pulleys and use the A/C your probably going to break even, as in, it will be like driving your car with no pulleys but without the A/C. Make sense?

sure does. i was hoping it would offset the a/c. seems it does. does the a/c lose any blowing power?
