i think what he meant was that there are no synchromesh rings in first and reverse. But actually i think there is one in first, but not in reverse, which is why to put it in reverse you have to be at a complete stop, not so the case in first gear.

Yes, there are synchros for all the gears.

My other car doesn't have synchros for first, so you can't use it when you're rolling.

It's *old* though. Has a manual choke, too.
