Hey ya'll!! It seems that our SE-R alpha geeks have dropped the ball on posting the latest for our cars soooooooooo I was wondering:

The latest generation JWT cams, how do they compare to earlier grinds? It's the 3rd right? Mine seem pretty awesome (kicks better than a VTEC).

The second generation Hotshot header: is it the best/latest? It's a 4-2-1. Is 4-1 better? Why?

I noticed brian talking about msd ignitons. The sr20de maintenance page says "no" to aftermarket ignitions. What do ya'll think?

Any place to get performance CV 1/2 axles? I shred mine almost every time the slicks go on. I get great times but these things just dont last!

Anyone ever done a RAM AIR inductor? Like a hood scoop? We have a MAF instead of a MAP which loves LOTS of cool air. My hood is fading and I'm considering putting one in for fun.

Have fun replying!!

You won't need to use an aftermarket ignition, untill you your engine starts to see higher cylinder pressures. Either from high compression, or high boost. This is because with the higher cylinder pressures encountered, the spark will hve a harder time bridging the gap. So consequently your ignition system will need more energy to overcome the higher pressures.

My NX had a hood scoop, but I think the P.R.CAI is the way to go for cooler air and more HP. But the nice thing about havin' a hood scoop was the intimidation factor. Rice Boys tended to leave you alone because they didn't know if you had a turbo or not.

I couldnt imagine tearing into my pretty hood on my 93. Maybe a sometime behind the grill or down there where the CAI goes for ram air pickup. Or maybe kinda like the Maxima with the little scoops behind the grill on top of the radiator. Never wanted to tho.

The latest JWT Cams are the 2nd generation street grind. The confusion comes from the name, S-3 cams.
The latest hotshot headers are the third generation and are a 4-2-1.
Check out the mailing list archives and search for 'header shootout' and probably throw in 'chris pinthong'. They dyno'd 4-5 headers. The hotshot and AEBS were the best. The AEBS is 4-1.

I dont know if a ram air would have any benefits over a CAI. The main power boost from the CAI (other than reduced restriction) is from the *length* of the intake causing a resonance to help fill the cylinders on the intake stroke. I dont know, if you ram air setup had the same length and diameter as the PRCAI or the hotshot CAI.... Hm,m??

Place racing pisses me off so I stay talk to hotshot, they seem to have better customer service.

ya, the aftermarket ignition is there only to prevent detonation and to improve my spark, but I did thrown in some cheapo bosch non-platinum plugs $0.79 a piece and gapped em' down to an .033 and seems to run alot better than what it did with the platinum plugs, so I might not need one. but still on the back burner (along with a turbo) the new hotshot header is the gen 3 and it has larger primaries and does not have the oh to common 2nd gen crack. and the jwt cams are just improved on since they first came out (longer duration and larger lift, overlap, ect, bla bla bla.)
