Anybody know if it is illegal to remove the rear seat and associated seatbelts... i sorta like the look of bare metal and i never used the back seat so i have no use for it

No, it's not illegal, unless you have passengers back there. I do it all the time. Well, not all the time.....

Yes. It is legal to remove the back seats.

Actually, if I am not mistaken, the only seat you need in the car by law is the drivers seat and seatbelt.

That is unless you have a passenger in the car.

I removed my back seat a while back to try and eliminate a rattle. I just left it out and drove around for a while. Guess what, both parts of the seat weigh nothing. Inconsequential weight. Without the seat you get more road noise which sucks. Also you can't throw things where the seat used to be because it'll slide around on the bare metal. I used electrical tape on the seat back hooks which quieted the rattle nicely.
