Lousy fuel mileage

What kind of mileage do you guys get? I think I'm getting lousy mileage at ~27 mpg on the highway. Here's what's new on my engine in the past year:
O2 sensor
Distributor cap/rotor button
NGK plugs
NGK wires
JWT intake
Hotshot headers
Pacesetter cat-back
timing at 17 degrees

I've also:
regrounded MAF
cleaned throttle body
cleaned BPT, or whatever it is
checked/adjusted TPS

I'm at a loss. I get ****-E milage around town, too. Maybe I'm driving too fast?

Pat: You must have been drafting a large moving object to get 38mpg

Bowlcut: I have 15X7 Mim Pescaras with 195/50/15 Yoko AVSi.

The only thing I can think of is at 70mph, I'm turning 3500rpms, and nothing I can do is gonna significantly increase mileage.

I need a 6 speed.....

OK, so can anyone see from my list anything I missed or need to check/replace?

Fuel relay: I refuese to believe this is causing low mileage. Incorrect level readings, sure. But how does it waste gas? I fill up, reset the tripometer, drive, fill up again, calculate mileage. Simple. I know the guage is screwy. When I'm on "E" I can only fit 10 gallons in.

Cruise: I use cruise control religiously on the highway, even for short 10 mile trips. I generally set it to ~72mph (3500 rpm) and leave it.

Hills/Mountains: I live in central NC. We don't have mountains here and the hills are barely considered hills. Not an issue.

Fluids: I use the finest synthetic lubricants from Mobil 1 and Redline in the engine and transmission. No isses there.

I just can't figure out what's left to do. I guess I need to start driving behind semis to catch a draft....

If you think that'll get me from the upper 20s to at least low 30s on the highway, I'll do it this weekend.

Did I mention my car has 70,000 miles? It led an EASY life before I bought it. So easy in fact, I wonder if the throttle body is really dirty from the previous owner. Might need to be removed and soaked. I did not do that. Is there any good info on how to remove the throttle body? It looks terribly difficult.
