Alright, you guys, here's the deal: I bought my car just about a year ago. I consistently get about 280 miles before the empty light comes on, mixed city and highway driving. Some of the other posts around here lead me to believe that I should be getting higher mileage from my motor. What are some possible problems I might have? I've been getting the same mileage since I bought the car. It runs fine, pulls great, etc.

You might want to try replacing you oxygen sensor, or maybe cleaning your throttle body.

damn the best i get is 220 per tank iv changed plugs wires cap and roter cleaned the tb and thats as good as it gets for me any suggestions

i fill up around 275-290 miles, and usually am able to pump in around 9-10 gallons, depending on whether i ran the a/c that week or not.

for the past month, i've been hovering around 31mpg, but last week dropped to 28mpg cuz i had my a/c on due to the heat wave in jersey.

suggestions to improve mileage: clean TB, new plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, new air filter, oil change, tires with less rolling resistance, fuel injector cleaner, a wax (less wind resistance! just kiddin...), and most importantly, don't drive like speed racer!

I went 327 miles on 10.5 gallons with my last tank- 31 mpg. Stock (except for K&N filter) '94 with 179,000 miles on it. Most I've ever been on one tank is 430 miles (all highway). I generally get at least 300 miles per tank in the summer with mixed driving.

Last week I got 26.5 mpg, probably 80% around town with the A/C on (heat index of 115 on Friday!!!!) Strictly highway driving I get about 30-31 with the A/C on and as high as 33 without A/C running. This is with a JWT ECU and 93 octane. Best mileage I had ever had before was 30 mpg.

i know mine's a little low compared to average (especially when you consider that i dont speed) but jlequipment you are getting DICKED. take it to a dealer

I get 30-32 mpg or 300 miles on 9.5 gallons. Mostly highway. You guys should be getting better mileage unless you are driving crazy.. I'll tell you I put my foot down and shift at 5-6 a few times to and from work so go figure. Also at 110k my car has original 02, wires, cap or rotors. I am changing them anyway though.

Very Funny 94, Good point too. The reason for the tune up is becasue one day after i let the car sit for 3 days it gave me a hard time starting. So figured I'd be proactive and tune her up before I find myself F'd in the driveway or side of the road.

I changed my original wires, rotor & cap last week at 179,000 miles- still have the original O2, clutch, exhaust system, & brake rotors. Runs great.

damn i must be doing something really wrong im getting the worst fuel mileage that iv ever seen out of a nissan and i cant fix it this damn 17 - 20 miles a gallon really sucks and thats if im nice and dont get on it

here's a stupid question. how are your tire pressures/alignment? that could do a little wackiness to your mileage.

otherwise, like LimitedSlip said, take her to a dealer.
