I'm working on my girlfriend's 240sx, trying to change out a neutral safety switch. The guy at the parts store said it plugs into the transmission. I can't find it.
The box calls it a "switch back-up light"

Anybody have any clues?

the back up light switch is what turns the reverse lights on, but it may be interchangeable with the neutral switch?? is this an auto? if not, why do you even need it? the car starts in gear, as long as the clutch in down.

anyway, its one of the little things on the passenger side of the tranny, the only things there with wores going into them.

the neutral switch is the sensor on the tranny nearest the tail shaft. the one closest to the engine on the other hand, is the reverse switch.

if its an auto, i dont' know....ditch it for a 5 speed!

its its the furthest back... you dont need it. i dont have one, and my car is fine. we couldnt get the plug undone when we were doing my clutch, so i cut the wires, absolutly no ill affects.
