Ok, i decided i was going to change my bosch platinums and put in ngk's instead. Granted, the bosch's were new, but i just checked them recently, and they have the infamous yellow ring devoloping around the base. Not to mention, se-r.net has said they can cause a rough idle and hesitation at low rpms, which i had. Well, i put in my ngk's today and took her out for a ride. To my disbelief, my brand new exaust system that sounded like rice at high rpm's smoothed out completely, with a nice growl at low rpms climbing to a smooth, constant sound all the way to redline. I was amazed that the bosch's were causing my exaust to sound like rice before. Ive never heard of anything like that. My fellow sr20de brother NismoSer and my other friend who has a ga16de were even calling me uncle ben, which i didnt take too kindly too, but I couldnt argue with them because of how tinny and nasty it sounded. I was gonna put a resonator on to help the problem, but all i need was quality ngk plugs in there. The car sounds excellent now and I love it. I dont know why the bosch made it sound like rice up in the rpm range, but i know the NGK solved all my problems. I didnt realize til now that plugs could make a difference in the way your exaust sounds.

Wow, that's weird. Didn't think plugs would make THAT much od a difference, unless of course your Bosch's were seriously f'ed up. I just put brand new NGK plats in my car after 77,000 miles on the original ones. Runs a little better AFAICT.

Yea, i too have come to the conclusion that Bosch's are crap.

i had the platinum +4's in my 240sx, and with those the exhaust sounded loud and intrusive. I took them out because perfomance had been deteriorating throughout the past 10 months they've been in. with the infamous Gtech, it was netting constant 9 second 0-60s. after putting in new NGKs, i was poppin 8.1's. that, and the exhaust note did get slightly quieter and smoother.

yea NGKs!

Hey Frosty,
Nice to meet someone overseas! How is the import scene over in Finland.

Well I have my box of NGK BKR7s and I am about to test a set this weekend w/ the nitrous kit. Will someone say a prayer for longevity on my motor tonight.

On the serious note! God Bless ya'll!!

I have to agree- NGKs are the way to go. I was a long time Bosch user, having replaced my original NGKs at around 40,000 miles. I was replacing the Boschs at 25K or so (costs very little and takes 10 minutes). The engine ran rough and surged under hard acceleration, then seemed to drop off after 6,000 rpm. Being stubborn, I attributed this to bad injectors, bad gas, etc. I read how everyone said NGKs are the best but didn't believe them. Anyway, at 180,000 miles I replaced the original plug wires, rotor, & cap, plus installed the +4s. Ran great for about 2,000 miles and the plugs turned to crap- engine ran like crapola. So I finally broke down and ordered NGKs from a local speed shop ($7.95 each- the dealer wanted $15 each) and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Smooth acceleration right to the redline, smooth idle, great throttle response- I'm sorry to have ever doubted you guys. I feel shame.

Well I guess the import scene here in Finland is okey(getting better), but as I drive an NX there isn't a whole lot too choose from anyway. Come to think of it there are very few sr20de cars here in Finland, no sentras(if not imported), 3 or 4 NX2000, few Sunnys and a bit more Primeras.
