Picture of my pathetic failed clutchnet disc.

I bought this in the group buy, type 1 PP with copper/fiber disc. it was properly broken in for around 700 miles, and it failed around 1200 miles. the disc sepertated from the hub, as you may notice. Not to mention, the disc isnt even round anymore, when I took out the tranny bolts, chunks of metal fell out of the bellhousing.

Weird. I took mine out after a couple of thousand miles, and it looked great.
Will, that sucks man. I don't know what the deal is. The majority of the rivets broke on my first Speg Stage III. If I would've driven any longer, I have a feeling my hub would have seperated from the disc as well. Someone needs a make a clutch worth a damn!!

Corey
I am thinking the Type 1X PP is proabably too strong for any street disks. I would only run puck type clutches w/ the type 1x
Yep my clutchnet is holding up fine after roughly about 3000 miles so far.

I have taken my tranny twice since I've installed it to see if it's holding. IT IS! VE POWER!!!
I have to ask when the rust came into play?.... send it to me and I'll get you a new disc...
Note: This can happen with High torque cars when you use a street style disc. Or even aggressive down shifting can can cause damage. The friction material(copper/fiber) can handle the power and not slip, but the center hub is now the weak link. It is another trade off between a street setup for a daily driver and a chattering race kit that no one wants. The center disphram for street style discs is not as strong as in puck style discs. The street style disc can just be blown appart as pictured above...

the disc is en route to you as we speak, as for the rust, the lawn sprinklers came on while it was in the driveway.

i was using a type1 pp, it wasnt even a 1x, and i was probably only making around 260ft lbs, which is far less than what Frank was making, and like he said, his was fine.
good deal....Do you want another copper-fiber or upgrade to a 6-puck sprung? you can pm me so we dont tie up the forum with junk... Sorry about the problem. I am glad no one got hurt and your tranny is motor are still working...
My Type 1 PP and copper/fiber disk combo works great so far.
It does moan/squeal a little once in a while.
Man now im scared! I was planning on getting the Copper/Fiber with the Type 1 PP. But I really dont want to take a chance of going through this...

This isnt a problem for most from what you have seen goneturbo or anyone else, is it??
guess, ill stick to good ole ACT
:biggthump I have that but doesn't bother me or my NX! My NX is loving every moment and experience with it.

be carefull, thats how mine started out.

i think ill give the 6 puck sprung a try... any advice anyone?
Will probably just got a bad disc. This is the second disc that had been broken and needed to be replaced through out the group buy. You dont need to be scared. I am pretty sure that Will was not puttin' around town to make the disc turn out the way it did. Also you can create more than 260 ft-lbs of torque at your flywheel. Probably almost double it. with hard up and down shifting you can destroy clutches and even worse is when you let off the gas and immediatly get back on at high rpms.
the moan/squeal is only the vibration and fiction from the clutch disc contacting the flywheel and Pressure Plate. Every preformace clutch will do this, except carbon faced discs. I have run clutchnet setups in both my cars for about a year now and love it. I have installed them for numerous friends here on the forum and they have worked great.
Here is a list of problems that have come up during the GB:
Member hated his 6-puck setup becasuse it chattered and made noise when engaging
An ACT Xtreme PP was used with a Clutchnet disc, This doesn't work due to clearance issues.
2-Members recieved discs with out of spec spline sections.
Member recieved a bad flywheel which caused the disc to slip.
Member had a bad resuraced flywheel which broke the center hub.
Member (Will) destroyed the copper-fiber disc cause he has bad luck.

Will and the center spline issue are only the real problems that we have encoutered.
Hopefully that helps clarify some of issues.
Also the Groupbuy will either be ending on January 1st or the ordering process will change. We are not turning in enough orders to maintain the current GB status. So either it will end or I can change it to Once a month on turning in orders instead of daily. I will post more info in the GB section. Feel free to comment there in you have any.

Thanks for being up-front and listing out all the problems.
Good luck getting this kind of honesty from the other clutch places.
