I'm just curious if its possible to run JUN cams 272 duration 11.5 lift without Springs being that S4 cams have 11.8 lift and don't use springs springs are mainly for Lift correct? What about using Springs without Titanium retainers...the retainers alone are like 270 bucks ...anyone have numbers on 272 Duration 11.5 lift cams? Thanks for any insight on this

Jun recommends springs for anything above the 10.5mm lift. This question is like asking if you can run JWT's C3's without their springs. You need the springs to run the 272's. They aren't even recommneded (from what craig tells me) unless you have some headwork and raised compression.

Toda recommends springs with all but there smallest cams. The cams I am getting are the same specs as the small juns and they still recommend springs.

I was just curious where you got your info from? The only thing I've noticed about Toda is that some of their cams require the use of their lifter kit. Did you get some info that isn't in the catalog?

There is a little info on www.todaracing.com. But you need to call to get anything specific. The 264's should be in the country in a couple weeks. When I get them and broken in I will dyno them.

Has anyone ever used HKS cams for our cars? Ive browsed through the Gti-r site and seen multiple listings for them. Also would you need springs and retainers in the Gti-r for Jun cams since the valvetrain is supposed to handle higher revs?

Yeah, I've been following their website for the past 6 months, just to see the occasional updates. I've just had my plans to buy these cams on hold until next spring. I'm hoping to buy the 272's. Did they explain what the deal is with the whole lifter kit requirement to you?

That is required if you use the solid lifter cams like the GTI-R. All the cams on their site now are hydro.

Oh ok....that helps out a ton. I'm psyched to find out how ur cams do on the dyno now. I think that the 272's with a moderate turbo setup will be pretty sweet!!
