i was thinking of saving some dough and finding a shitty ass sentra se-r or nx2000 with high miles on the clock, then selling my celica nd putting the rest into mods and maintenence. my question is, is it worth it? i know people have like 200k on some, but what have they done to keep them running? is it safe to do this? help!

i don't have to do **** but change my oil, i havent had any problems so far, 172k miles...

is it safe to go to synthetic oils on a car this old?

My NX has 140K miles. Oil changes roughly once every 5000 miles. Tune up has been done only twice. Its been autocrossed/dragged since 50K miles, and its running stronger than it ever has. In fact, every year I beat my personal best 1/4 mile time. This motor never ceases to amaze me.

IMO, I think it's fine to run synthetic. BTW, I can also vouch for it being a very tough car. My car currently has 192,000 kms, and I beat on it regularily.

I went Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic at 130,000.
GO for it. I still use 10w30.
I seee redline EVERYDAY! Whether Im racing an Integra GS or my own shadow.
