you would have to make friends and bring out the big bucks.

California has visual checks, so no these motors will fail unless you find someone corrupt.

i dont live in cali but if you get an 89 240sx and swap in a RB25DET. That motor is newer than the car. Put a cat on it and i am pretty sure it would pass. Although the problem in question is the visual inspection.

Only the RB26 will pass smog, the Rb20 and Rb25 won't since they were never brought here. The Rb26 will however due to Motorex importing the skylines to america.

ohhh...ok. could you use the front cover from an RB26DETT on the RB25DET? ...sure they wouldnt know the diff lol

SR20 won't pass, RB25 might but your goin to have to spend some big money... close to 3k prob to get it certified. I think Motor rex gets the Skyline GTS and GTR. If they sell the GTS then you could get it smoged but it's not like goin down to the reff station and saying hi I want to smog. Other way is to go ninja style. If you don't know what that is then your not ready for it yet.

They prob smoged it as a 240sx which is N/A and would have a lower emission output vs a Turbo car.

They obviously didnt smog it as a rb20det powered 240, any swapped car still has to pass smog as the car it originally was(if that made sense). But yeah, in cali you arent going to pass, some people pulled it off with sr20dets in washington, I dont know how hahaha, luck?
