s4 cams WILL not pass CA smog
i just tried to smog my car yesterday for $20. everything is back to stock besides s4's and UR pullies and ignition timing is back to stock. also did a full tune-up. here's my numbers.
15 mph:
HC

damn, well i am still gonna try. i replaced my cat 2 years ago so i could pass, but the car was bone stock.
Hmm.....I guess im not passing.
how long did you have to wait before you put your car on the tester? if you can run your car hard and get to the front of the line right away, the cat is still piping hot and will help you lower your HC readings.
good tip! i dropped the car off and it took em about an hour before they started. so i am absolutely sure it's the cams. maybe i should retard the timing ti help reduce emmisions. i dunno.

I would check your O2 sensors to see if they are both performing correctly, and also make sure you keep your car running until they do the test to keep your cats hot.
The S4's are designed to pass emissions.
Yeah, I would try turning the timing down a bunch...

yes they do check the timing. on the smog report, they wrote down my timing as 14 btdc.
