I'm curious...I've seen alot of publications that have ads for different mufflers....Does anyone have opinions on just adding a muffler instead of the cat-back? Is there a brand of muffler that doesn't sound like you're driving a @#$# streetbike? I would love to add just a little sound to my 93 Classic, but I don't want alot of noise. I've seen mufflers(apex'i, Tenzo, etc.) on Ebay for like 90$ and am wondering if I should pick one up or not. Thanks for your input!!!

I'm getting a custom 2.5" catback exhaust Friday with a Dynamax muffler. A buddy of mine has the muffler on his car and I like the sound of it. His is a little loud because he does not have a resonator.

I have an OBX muffler on mine. I just added 2 1/4 piping starting from the Stock resonator. I love it!!! Does not sound like a cracked out dirt bike. It's has a very deep, mellow, steady tone. Come to think of it, have you ever heard of a BMW M3? Sorta sounds like that. If you want pics of the muffler, I don't mind sending it....!8Þ"

SR20DE pilot....Could you send me a pic of that muffler? How much did it cost? I thought all Japanese cars had resonators on them anyway, don't they(I haven't really looked

'94 B13,aebs,pr cai, 17deg.Installed New Year's day:Thrush glasspack, 23.5" (or 24, can't remember exactly) length, 2" ID; aluminized 2" piping; edelbrock (yes, come join the club
)muffler, model no. 5550, 2" ID; Meg's tip, almost stock-looking. About $309.00, installed! Subjectively: deep (pardon any cliches that may follow) rumble at idle-very sexy, but IS THIS A 4-cylinder?!Stop and go, stoplight to stoplight driving: well, this sure is louder than stock, but it IS a pleasing, Edelbrocky, sound. Cruising @ 65-70: ranges from tolerable to entertaining, depending on your right foot; certainly, not annoying. Thing actually seems to get less louder at high RPM. Overall, for the money, my verdict: why didn't I do this sooner?!

Two questions:

1. What is a resonator? Is it in the muffler or is it somewhere along the exhaust? And do I have one on my '91 SE-R?

2. Does anyone know a web site that has sound clips of different mufflers?

From what I know, the resonator is a part of your exhaust system that LOOKS like a muffler....It usually looks like a round canister either before or after the Cat.....Someone correct me if I'm wrong here

doug, here's wher your ****'s at:
get under your car and find your muffler.
follow the exhaust pipe backe about 6-8 inches and there is a large cylinder that is about 16" to 18" long and 5" in diameter.
that's the resonator.
