i have a question, DO I HAVE AN SE-R??...ok, sure sure, it has the "SE-R" insigna in the back, foglights, sr20de engine, alloy wheels, but no sunroof, and my trunk lid does not have any inner lights, i have noticed that all the se-rs i have seen have the inner lights and i dont, im not saying its a big deal, but does anyone else have a car like this???...i probably have the special "lightweight" version of the se-r...hehehe, or maybe the cheap base model se-r
i never realized this until i purchased my se-r this past summer..

Ok sounds like a swap. check a few simple things, what is your redline? more than likely they didnt change the instrument cluster. also check back brakes, do you have rear disks? all se-r's have inner tail lights but it could be possible that the car was in a wreck and they put a different trunk lid on it and didnt put the center lights in. what year do you have? that will tell you what kinda lights are susposed to be back there. that would be my guess, a bad body shop fixing it. you dont have to have the sunroof. mine doesnt have a factory one, neither does novtec's new 91.

key things to remember. check engine, check red line should be 7500 for a 5 speed, check rear disk brakes, check rear spoiler, check front lower spoiler, fog lights, bigger rear sway bar, thats about it. the rest you can get in an SE most of the time. fog lights spoilers interior all can be had on a SE but the redline rear disks bigger sway bar and those 14' alloys are the key.

I'll bet what happend was the trunk was crunched and the body shop or the owner of the car found a non-SER trunk and used it. Does the car show any signs of body work. The sunroof on the B13 was an option, same as the B14, but more B14s have them. I have only seen 2 B14s without sunroofs. I don't think it was a motor swap. All the things he has to say its an SE-R are there, just not the tail lights. If someone did a swap, tehy wouldn't put OE wheels on it. Especially B13 wheels. YUCK.

yeah..i checked the little sticker thing on the side of the right or left (dont rememeber where) and for "engine" it said SR20DE..so i assume then that it must have been in a rear collision...damn it...oh well...them bastards..

you can tell the engine really simple
look at the valve cover is it wide as hell like 8 inches wide or so easy way to tell it apart from other nissan engines. then look at the rear wheels, inside check for rear disks instead of drums.

5 bucks goes on the rear end collision theory of mine.

Your Se-r is an early model 91-92 version or as most people call it, "The Classic." They did not come with the inner tail lights. The Sunroof, Cruise control & fog lights were dealer optional.

The 93-94 came with the inner tail lights and a slightly different front bumper. The Se-r's for these years also came with a slightly detuned Sr20 to meet some pollution standards. It's the same style of sr20 found in the 200SX version. Sunroof, Cruise control, fog lights, power locks and windows were dealer optional.

I'm sorry "SR20 B12", but ALL B13 SE-Rs came with the inner taillights. The '91-'92 SEs did not while the '93-'94 SEs did. If you got the 2 mixed up, no biggie. I just don't want anyone confused.

ALLL SE-R's HAVE INNER TAIL LIGHTS. period. they came that way sorry. and no the engine didnt get detuned until 94. 91-93 they are the EXACT same engine. 94 they went to the low port(TB up high) and a SLIGHTLY milder intake cam. but in 91 the only option was the sunroof IIRC, well the radio was a deailer option along with the fog lights but everyone has them cause it was part of the se-r package that nissan left up to the dealer to put on. the radio was installed by the dealer if you wanted one. 92 the sunroof was put as an option along with cruise control, think abs came in on this year too but it could be on the 91 also dont remember. 93 nothing changed mechanicly, only the lower front chin, painted side skirts, different interior cloth, flipped and simplified instrument cluster, and the rear tails changed. the turn signels on the back changed places with the brake lights and the inner lights got bigger, before it was half black and half red it went to more red and less black. 94 they changed the intake runners on the engine went to the low port TB up high. slightly milder intake cam nothing like 95 tho. its the exact as a 93 after that.

just getting the facts right. cause there are a few websites that are wrong. i thought my 93 had a 92 engine for a while cause of bad info from SCC.

oh yea as far as i know power windows/locks were never offered in any classic. 91-94 are consider "The Classic"s. there was one guy in hawii or something like that, that had power windows or something but they get different cars. please get info straight before you post

Sorry fellaz. I ment that the 91-92 came with smaller inner lights than the 93-94. Correct? Power Windows and Locks were optional but alot of people do not have them. I know of 2 Se-r and 1 SE that has them. The power windows make alot of noise, but are very fast.

ABS came on the 1992 Se-r's on, that I know this is true.

I would really like to see that, cause out of all the cars, websites, brocures, original brocures, selling slips, anything i have never seen power windows or locks as an option on any classic se-r.

You guys are a bit confused here. Ok:

1. The 91-92 SE-R's had SMALLER inner tail lights. They are still "inner" tail lights but not as apparant and don't extend as far than the:

2. 93-94 SE-R's. They had the LARGER inner lights, much more noticeable. The '93 SE-R is probably the best one of them all (better front bumper, better interior and gauges, bigger tail lights, same enging as the 91-92's. The 1994 SE-R went back to the current low port head style and shittier cams.

I'm pretty sure the inner tail lights came w/ the spoiler option. All Sentras even SEs w/ the spoiler have the inner lights. Your trunk lit must of came from a sentra w/o the spoiler. BTW SR20 B12 the earlier 91-92 Sentra did come w/ the inner lights as well. I have a 91 SE-R w/ the inner lights and sunroof, and AC. In 91 I believe sunroof /AC/ and ABS were the only options. 92 and up offered curise also.

Another quick way to tell them apart is the trunk lock. 91-92 are located "in the paint" while 93-94 are located within the taillight assembly.

Being a owner of a MOFO SE-R, and a BIG classic fan-hate all the other cars. All SE-Rs have inner tail lights, all SE-Rs came with optional ABS from 91-94s. All came with optional SRS, and sunroof. No SE-R ever came with power windows or locks from the factory. They added the last 2 features on the slower and heavier 200SX. All classics have power mirrors and independent 4 wheel suspension. Classic have a higher redline and no speed limiter, get better gas mileage and have stronger engines with less problems-no over revving problems with popping rocker arms. Are built stronger and look more sleeper. Classics rule all other MOFO cars drool. Don't be playa hatting, aight ? Who cares if ur car is slower. I dont.

oh, and Ben's URL that he posted IS a definitive site on the Classic SE-R. The information is semi-correct... e.g. the 91-92 has the narrower inner tail light whereas the 93-94 1/2 has the wider inner tail light; and the turn signals have that "split" look or something between two taillights whereas the 91-92's are on the side.

Once you are a seasoned classic owner/admirer, the differences between the 91-92 and 93 - 94 1/2 are night and day... especially the 94 and above cuz they MURDERED that car! All b/c of those bullshit regs in California...
