Shaved Turnsignals

Hey I just came up with this idea. I was wondering what you guys thought about it:

I have no idea, but this is my idea for the turnsignals. I was thinking that you could plug the turnsignal wires into amber 194s in the headlights. I don't know if that will work, plus I haven't thought about parking lights. I would like to hear some feed back on this idea.

Took me a while to spot the anomoly in that picture... lol!

I think that BMW 2002's (old cars) had the indicator (turnsignal) within the headlights. As I'm sure alot of cars have....

However, I wouldnt be too hopeful about squashing an extra bulb within the headlight unit.

Plus there are probably legal issues???

No, I meant using the existing bulbs in the headlight unit. You can get amber colored ones. I have no idea about legal issues, but I'm sure you wouldn't get pulled over for it. Most cops have never seen NX's before, and as long as it works, I don't think anyone will have any problems.
VW's have this in their headlights.

So do g35's and countless other cars. I just want to know if you guys think this looks cool or not and if the wiring is possible for an am (me).
I think the car looks hella cool. Makes the nx look longer. If it works out, be sure to tell me. :D :D :D :D
thats a great idea.would erase the need of buying 50$ lenses from a forum member too.
The only possible problem that I see is losing the visibility of the signals from certain angles b/c the headlamps are recessed on our cars.
I like the idea of having those lights there. I guess I am just biased because I bought a set of clear ones (which I'm still waiting for :))
I HAD to do that because I have the Carmate front end and the the original turnisignal spot is not there.. so I did what you said, got amber 194's and wired the turnsignal wires to the old parking lights... ....seemed to work out pretty good for me...

The signals are recessed a bit as well... I thought of that too, but when you actually look at the car you realize that that's not the case.
Finaly I understand, there are two bulbs in the unit already!!! Sidelights or parking lights aswell as the headlight bulb!!!!

Sounds cool, good luck filling in the recess!
I may go outside and do that now. Is there a way to have them stay on and still flash without a relay?
Here I photoshopped another one:

Ian- I don't know, the way I plan to do it, I doubt it. If you really want to, you could get new H3/4 Fog lights with angel rings around them (like bmw headlights) and wire the angle rings to the foglight wires. That would be a piece of cake (hmmm.. Now that I think about it...) But then you'd have to fabricate your own covers to go around those fogs. I'm kind of working on that for the ones I put in. Eitherway, I am still inquiring about the wiring.

I'm gonna play with the wiring a bit more when the weather decides to stop piercing holes in my shirts by making my nipples so hard.

theres a guy on 100nx.com with a blue nx that did just that on his stock bumper....i dont know what he did about the signals. i'll try to find the pic.

Thanks

Well, I found out that since the 194's arent dual filiment bulbs, you can't have them flash and stay on with out the use of relays. However, I have someone who's going to show me how to do it with relays. On the other hand, if we figured out a way to put dual filiment bulbs in that socket (dunno if possible) then I would know how to wire it.

If you wish to just have the 194's blink, then you have to take the two harness and cut them where there's enough slack to resplice them. Then, the turnsignal wires should plug right in. The old parking light wires can be spliced to something aftermarket.

Damn man that looks nice. All you did was get rid of the moulding and turnsignals? I would like to see the finished product as it is today or something. Wow. Could you tell me what your process was to do this?

heres how it stands at the mo. all i did was remove the turnsignals and make a mesh cage to fit, then skimmed it with fiberglass. the moldings were removed from the side and skimmed with fiberglass.

finally the indentations on the front were skimmed with fiberglass aswell. then the whole bumper and most of the wings were skimmed with filler then it was keyed and sprayed.
