Compression will be about 12:1 and just buy a Sr20ve and add the Sr16 cams and you'll save quit a bit of money.

you will spend the same money if you do it either way,,(sr 20ve $1800 cams $4-500 ) (sr16 $1100,, crank ,rods,pistons gaskets,machine shop work$1100)

but for some country like malaysia
Road tax is based on CC
and some country have no CC raise up are allowed

so a stroker kit is best option

any for my case which i intend to get a SR16VE and stroke it to 2liter
since i save $$ hassle to getting a manual gearbox since 20VE is CVT auto
and my car is GA16 not SR20DE original

i agreed that stroking SR16VE to 20VE might be same cost buying a
SR20VE and installing a SR16VE cam on it

let said if is conversion is done on GA16DE chasis car

If i getting a SR20VE. USD 2000 plus LSD gearbox maybe USD 2600
then SR16VE cam USD400 = 3000

for case SR16VE is selling USD 1100 without gearbox
if i have the with gearbox it might be USD 2000
Stroke it to 20VE maybe extra USD 1000 so total is USD 3000
but here , i can get my engine balanced, new bearing so on.

but let said if i already have SR16VE on my car.
i dont think any possibility to buy a SR20VE engine,
or just the short block only
the swap the cam or head and sell off the SR16VE bottom

i think this topic can help those have installed SR16VE on their car
and looking for upgrade power.
a USD 1000 investment to get 30whp from SR16VE might be worth it
:D
