Ok so check this. This just happened about an hour ago. I was with my brother and my one friend looking at car magazines at Walmart, but we got bored and decided to go home. It's raining out and wet everywhere, my brother was with me and my friend drives a '95 Civic del sol. Anyways we were both going home and since we live in the same area were going the same direction. Well we were at this 2 laned road that merges to one lane. At first I got on it a little in 1st gear, just a little (as our cars dont go anywhere in the rain) but then I let off but he kept going. I was doing about 40mph back from my friend in the del sol about 75 yards back, when he hit a puddle and HYDROPLANED.
We're talking SICK hydroplaning. My brother goes "****!!!" and I looked up to see his little Civic swing sideways and SMASH into the guardrail probably doing 65-70mph. Parts and lights went everywhere, the car swung around again and the passenger rear quarter panel took out some more of the guardrail. I was safely about 75 yards behind him when this happened doing about 40 so I was fine. I screamed "call 911!" to my brother on his cell phone as I scrambled out of the car.
As I got out my friend (his name is Matt) got out of his car holding his head. His car was blocking 3 lanes and parts where everywhere. I look back and see cars coming ahead towards us at full speed and I start jumping around so they see us and one slams on the brakes and nearly slides like Matt did. I scrambled in the road to get the pieces out and then of course the cops came and were being gay about it all, my friend matt got a $94 ticket for "too fast for conditions" and the cop said I could get one (even though I wasn't speeding and didn't do anything) but I didn't get one (hopefully) And get this, the cop goes "whose car is faster" (prolly to see if we were racing) and my friend goes "his car" and the cop goes "you mean to tell me a Nissan is faster than a Honda?" <-------What a dick huh? I guess he was trying to find out why I was behind him if my car was faster if we were racing. Anyways.....
Anyways, my friend is ok, he just has a concussion. His car on the other hand is ****ED. It's definately totalled. Both front air bags deployed, the front is smashed up to the windshield and the car is barely recgonizeable as a Del Sol anymore. It was a 95, all stock, SOHC but it was a fun little car. I had alot of fun it it. No more. Thank god my friend is ok. And get this, he wasn't even wearing his seatbelt.
