I'm running an SC61 turbo, I know its not the same as the SC44 but still I thought I'd let you know that the turbo is badass and would do you just fine... I do think that the 44 may be a bit too small for your goals...

400whp is my goal on that turbo...so that's no biggie

i'll still be running a big ole holset later...but i want to get my suspension/fuel/management stuff setup first...and i figure it'll be easier with low, pump gas numbers

Get a 50 trim/stage III T3/T04E. .63 A/R hot side, and .50 A/R cold side.. This combo will make 400whp on pump gas. The 50 trim has a very broad efficiency island, and works perfect with the SR. You can get it at cheapturbo.com for mid 500's.

Basically a PTE SC44 is kinda equiv. to a T3/04E with a 60trim wheel and with a .63 a/r Stage 5 backhousing. I was actually thinking about going with one of these turbos but decided to go with their GT3251E. I'd def. give it a try, I mean its only $350....

I was actually looking into one of those. It comes with a GT wheel which is more efficient than the standard t3/to4e wheel.
Actually I think only the Precision GT Line come with Garrett GT wheels.....

i'm only getting this small turbo for the price...i wouldn't want to get a smaller one for more money.

You said you wanted to make 400whp... The 50 trim will spool up faster than the SC44, which has a 60 trim compressor. If you were looking to make 450-475whp, then the SC44 would do well. You will have more lag with the SC44 versus the 50 trim. You never said anything about price.. You said you wanted to make 400whp. I merely suggested a turbo that would get you there with minimal lag.

You can find out which one it is by looking at the compressor outlet pipe, around where the pipe clamps on, there will be a set of numbers, which correspond to the size of your compressor and turbine wheels in mm's. :biggthump
