Hi everyone. I reciently replaced my timing chain tensioner and noticed when searching regarding the replacement that some people mentioned that nissan issued a recall for upper timing chain guides. I couldn't find any govn't recalls on this and was wondering if anyone could verify this or not? I know that 98+ motors didn't come with the guide because of the tensioner update, but was there a recall on older motors?

Never heard of a recall. Most people do upgrade to the updated B14 tensioner if they are replacing it. You can remove the upper guide without ill effect; its two 12mm bolts IIRC.

Why did Nissan change the slack-side guide and its bolt in the later SR20's?
