I finally got my tranny back together after installing the Quaife. I can engage all the gears, but I don't have a warm fuzzy about the approx 1/4 inch of free play the reverse idler gear has on the shaft even when reverse is engaged.
This free play is because the "reverse shift fork" that is part of the control braket has some slack in its movement. All the other gears seem to be fine in this regard.
Is this free play on the reverse gear normal... even by design?
Thanks,
Steve
