I was reading over the website
http://www.brazosport.cc.tx.us/~lshadoff/turbo/
some posted this week and got to thinking "man, tapping the block, all
these clearance problems, sounded like one big headache" from what he
wrote. Granted he did a great job and it looks great, just sounds like a
TON of work with too many mistakes to be made from my clumsy hands. I'm
pretty handy but when it comes to drilling holes in my engine block, I
cringe.

Anyways, what's the opinions of turbo kit versus a DET swap? What are the
power output differences between say the Hotshot kit, Fmax kits, and stock
DET? Can you get more power tweaking a turboed DE or tweaking a DET? Which
out of all these would be most cost effective? Which route is the
easiest and/or causes the least amounts of headaches?

I have yet to find info on Ben Benavides car besides that he built it
using "off the shelf pasts that any of us can get our hands on" or
something like that. Where can I find info on his buildup, or is there
any?

Thanks in advance

This is kinda related...I hope... I'm going to Japan later on this year and thinking about bringing back the intake, exhaust, computer & harness from a wrecked GTi-R or Bluebird. I wish I could bring back the engine too, but it will cost too much and defeat my purpose of saving some $$$. My question is, can I bolt on these parts on my SR20DE motor? I was wondering if anyone knows.

ya, you can use everything off the car, but there are quite a few diffrences on them, such as cr, cam size, emission gear and the list goes on, the only thing worth picking up (maybe) is the exhaust manifold, turbo, looking to see where they run the lines from (lots of pics) maybe the downpipe, and other stuff, you drive a g, what year is it? I know some obd II systems will not even come close to hooking up to those computers over there. if it is like a 93-94 it might work, I would give jwt a call on that, but the emissions, gas milege, detonation and all of that other stuff would suffer b/c they have better gas over there and their computers are tuned for better gas, while ours are tuned for water :) if you have any specifics, just ask, I can ramble on for hours (streching the truth a little ;-))

Ben, sorry for getting off your topic.

Brian, I have a 93.5. I'm stopping over at San Diego anyways so I'll just give JWT a visit. My friend that works there should be able to help me out. If not, I'll just get everything since it'll be free and shipping will cost close to nothing. Thanks.
