Turbocharger and a supercharger noise?
My car makes 2 noises... When im going thru every gear past 1st, when it hits 3000 rpm i hear a whine, like that of a supercharger, when i hit 4200rpms, it seriously sounds like a turbocharger. Then i goto shift, it sounds like a supercharger spooling down.... The noise is very cool, and nobody can figure out what is making the noise, it makes the supercharger noise out of gear but no turbonoise. I know this sounds totally retarded, but the sounds occur every time. Ive had about 5 different people ride with me, 2 of them have torbocharged cars, they swear on it that my car sounds turbocharged, even my 2 roomates with sr20s agree on it. Does anyone have ANY idea where this is coming from? My 2 guesses are intake and/or exhaust leak. Its coming from the passenger side.

that is a possibility, i didnt notice the supercharger kinda noise until i replaced my belts.
no, its the intake i swaer. my friends ser did the same thing even with stock airbox, mine does too... its tight tho haha and when i put a kn filter on it got way louder

I get the same thing after I put on a K&N cone filter. Never heard it before with the stock airbox.

My old rsx did that big time with the intake depending on the temp out side... then when i shut the car off... all you heard was a suction discharge noise from it.
