I've seen these things on people mod lists...anyone know what the point of them is? Also...where do you find the kit that is used to change timing chain over to a timing belt? And what are the advantages to this? Please give me any advise you can...TIA!!

Why would you want to do that? Timimg chains are more durable and last longer.

They are lighter, and different size, helps to rev up quicker, and gain a few extra HP.

The timing chain is inside your engine, i dont think you want a belt in there.

i dunno where you can find them for 180, i assume that's for the 2 pulley set...but you can get the 2 pulley set from JWT (http://www.courtesyparts.com/ur.html) for $240, belts included.

Try Courtesy. I believe they're somewhere around $200-$210 and they include the belts.

The crank pully is a smaller diameter and made of aluminum instead of steel. It's lighter by several pounds. It's almost like removing mass from the flywheel, it's just on the other end of the crank. The smaller diameter means that you are now turning all the accessories less. This means they rob less hp. Dyno charts indicate somewhere around 5 hp for the 2 set, and another 2hp or so for the set of 4 pullies.

Also, this hp gain is across the whole rpm range, not just the high rpms like most intake/exhaust mods. Some people may not think it's worth only 5 hp, but I suspect it increases the area under the torque curve nearly as much as a header does. Good bang for the buck mod, IMO.

So would a set of all 4 pullys be a good deal for $250 not including shipping? Thinking about getting them...later..

AFAIK, no SE-R has had problems with the UR pulleys. Hondas and Integras have had problems.

Could that be because we have a perfectly balanced engine?? 2.0 I-4 is supposed to be one of the best engine setups, with a strait six not in the picture...
