Hey,

Is a valve cover gasket something you can buy from the factory or do you just have to use that liquid gasket maker? If so, do any of you VE guys have the part number for the valve cover gaskets? Ive got a oil leak on the front of the motor at the gasket and dont want to replace it with that liquid goop. this si for a sr20ve by the way. Thanks

Nathan

the gasket is NOT the same. i ordered one from sr20's....b13, b14, and b15, none of them look exactly the same. a regular sr20 gasket will go on there, but it doesnt seat very well. by looking at the two gaskets in comparison you can see the difference but its hard to explain online. i kept the old one and used some silicone. the new one i got just didnt look right.

Hmm, I ordered a plain SR20 gasket from Courtesy, and it works perfect, no leaks. I'll have to check out the part number. Maybe they sent me a B15 gasket.

I can tell you from powder coating both covers, the gaskets are the same, atleast the outer. :p

the one that came off of my VE, the bottom part of the gasket was wider than the top. the top was just wide enough to fit into the groove on the valve cover but the bottom was oversized to make a better seal. the DE gasket is the same thickness all the way around, the part the touches the valve cover and the part that seats flush with the head is the same thickness. it probably would have worked okay but it didnt look right for some reason so i didnt use it.

There are a few different VC gaskets available through Nissan. They've updated the part a couple times. You may have recieved an older part?

Also, they should be quite a bit less than $36, you should be looking at something like $15-16, plus a few dollars for shipping.

B13 = 13270-53J01
B14X = 13270-2J200
B14U = 94-96 = 13270-53J05
_______96-97 = 13270-2J200
_______98 = 13270-2J201
B15 = 13270-2J201

how many of those part numbers have superceeded to new numbers or have become the same as some other part numbers, im not sure. but its possibly, and knowing nissan, very likely.

I can tell you for sure the exact supercession when I get home, but I know the main stuff off the top of my head. I believe 13270-53J05 is still stocked by most places, but out of date. I believe it's just the outer ring and was supposed to be used on highport SR20's. 13270-2J200 and 13270-2J201 are to be used as a pair/set. One is the inner gasket set for the spark plug holes and the other is the outer ring. They can be used on all of our SR20 motors here in the US (highport, lowport and RR).

Hi Justin... I know your busy at work. Did you have a chance to cross verify the part numbers Aaron provided?

The 13270-53J01 superceedes to a 13270-53J05. The 13270-53J05 can be swapped with a 13270-2J200 (but I don't see an official supercession for this "swap/change") which then superceedes to the 13270-2J201. Then the 13271-2J201 is the inner row and is completely separate from the 13270-xxxxx parts. Is that the info you're looking for?
