just to warn you guys...i don't know if you guys go there or not. but i got my oil change yesterday and today the oil filter came off and oil all over my engine with a huge ass puddle under my car. they are so stupid they put on the wrong kind of filter. what a bunch of stupid asses. they put it on because it fits other nissans but didnt bother to check if it fit my sr20de motor. but you know i'm gonna be getting my engine bay cleaned and oil redone right for free. if not i smell a lawsuit on the way... aight lates i'm out.

The real problem might be that the B13 filter is different than the B14 filter. The thread pitch is wrong. There is no way they put a "other Nissan" filter on, because those are too big. Don't ask me how I know. But if you do, I'll tell you anyway. When I first tried to change the oil I looked in the filter book at AutoZone(hey I didn't know that Nissan filters were the best, I didn't even know what se-r.net was.) The book listed every other Nissan as using the same filter, but didn't mention the SR20 motor. I figured it wsa because the car was so new, that it just wasn't in the book. I went home and tried to put the filter on. Wouldn't even come close. It didn't physically fit. There just isn't enough room in there. What I'm betting is that the techs at WalMart saw that you had a SR20 motor and didn't look at the model year. Just be glad that you didn't blow anything up.

Given how easy it is to change your oil, and how often I hear about Jiffy Lube/WalMart/etc. ****ing things up, I can't believe people still pay $20 to have it done. I mean come on!! It takes about 5 minutes to do and if you wanna be super ghetto just drive up on a curb to get at your plug
Heh, I actually managed to convince a couple of my friends they're better off paying me $20 to do their oil change if they're still to lazy to do it themselves hah

Thats why I dont do mine. There is a place just off the AFB that I go to. They give a military discount, and since I still have my ID, of course I use it.

I have an NX with 60k mile old pro-kits that are almost completely sagged. I can barely fit my hand underneath the car much less get to anything! And I don't have any wussy **** like ABS, AC, radio so the oil filter is no problem

I have to agree with Scarpa-i had an incident with Jiffy Lube almost ten years ago, and ever since they almost blew up that car by putting recycled(!)oil in my crankcase, I've done all my oil changes on every car I've owned since then.

I take mine to have the oil changed. In town here I use my local Quality Quick Lube service, they let me be there when it is being done to give them advise...

When out of town, I go to Nissan. I love to work on my own car, but it is not handy where I live to dispose of the old oil. I only have the one car, and I am not going to haul that nasty old oil, risk having it spill or get in the car...

So I get it changed where I can oversee the process...

Man, I can't imagine an easier car to service than a Classic SE-R. Everything is right in front of you- the plugs, oil filter, air filter, etc. I don't even use a filter wrench- just tighten by hand. It's a little hassle to get around the ABS stuff but no big deal. You need to be Plastiman to change the oil filter on my GMC truck- plus the oil spills everyplace and the truck smells like burnt oil for a few days. I'd rather shave my head than have anyone service my vehicles besides me.
