We did it, 200 hp with the low buck motor!

Today Clark went to work on the ECU and did some tuning for the C6M cams. The result is 200.4 whp @ 7800 rpm. I think this is perhaps the most powerful NA DE around that is well documented. Not bad for a low buck motor.

He also spun the engine to 8600 rpm on the dyno with no valve float or rocker arm jump off. Theoreticaly these cams should be good to 9200 rpm with no float. The rods did not fly apart either!

Tomarrow Clark is going to fiddle with the intake cam timing to try to get some of the torque lost by the big cams and next week we try Pete's new manifold and a 70mm TB. We will probably end up with a good solid 200's.

I think I'll proably end up going back to the C3's with the manifold to get midrange torque and more than 200 hp, unless the cam really responds to more advance. We can't run the optimal lobe centers because the stock and 300ZX pistons don't have enough piston to valve clearance so piston with deep valve relifes will proably produce more torque.

Mr Miko needs to get his big bore motor, going we are going to see 220 with that one.

very very nice Mike, keep up the good work. You have really been making me think twice about boosting the NX and trying to make the fastest all motor NX out there. lol Ive got 20" slicks waiting for me to crack some 13's this spring. hehehe
How low of a buck is low buck?
WOW!!! Thats incredible Mike! I remember a time not all that long ago when the only 200hp na de's were in the european touring cars, and the $$$ full race engines built by sunbelt. Keep up the good work man we are all ears on this one.

Oh yeah, remind me to buy you an appletini at the convention :)

the most expensive part is the DPR Stage 5 head, about $1500. Stock crank, block, rods and cast 300zx pistons.

Ok but no talking to my wife afterwards this time ok lol? :)

oh and the thing doesnt idle. power gain was massive in the top though. really close to a VVL power curve above 5000

read the previous post. Idle at 1500 rpm, lost 10 hp below 3000.

trust me I am never speaking to her again, I value your friendship. :D
Congrats definitly good info to know!
Congrats mike! Now i can build my motor on the side... instead of it collecting USDM dust! Cant wait to see your car or rather hear your car.
This is getting really interesting.
i think we must reconsider many things about the sr20de motor.
High revs is one of them. In the past i have posted that i rev my sr20de up to 8200-8300 more than a year with no problems at all.
Maybe a 8200 rev cut with JWT and s4-s5(in the near future) cams is safe enough for the average user. The 0-60 miles is really great if you can rev first gear up to 8200 cause the second is high enough to continue accelarating like craze.
Good job Mike. i am glad there are ppl even in the other side of the Atlantik who believe in the sr20de motor.

if you revved that high you got lucky you didnt get rocker float. some people are lucky and others arent...wouldnt make that 8200 a habit.
Wow, amazing...

Congrats Mr. K.

Carlos.
CONGRATS!!!
