Im talking about the oil seperator. When I ran into Russell here on the board , he had taken his off and just had a rubber tube going from the valve cover to whereever the black box feeds into. ( by the exhaust manifold). He says he has had no problems whatsoever. So is this black box really necessary?

hey man hows it, from what i understand it is an oil/air seperator, working kind of like a catch can, except draining off seperated oil back to the crankcase and circulating the remaining air (that is the result of crankcase blow-by) through into the intake where it is combusted, the vacume in the manifold prevents a pressure build up in the crankcase. emissions stuff, im pretty sure that is how it works, if anyone else knows better please say as i would like to know for definate as well
sweet.
chris.
