N/A lowport 94. What will it take to get the car to a safe 175 horsepower? Im looking for bang for the buck stuff here.

at the wheels? Probably a CAI, Hotshot Header, 2.5"-3" exhaust, JWT C3-C4 Cams & Valve Springs, JWT ECU, UR Pulleys and a FPR for a bit of tuning....
There are several threads already going on about how to make hp all motor. Hope these links help.

300zx N/A pistons, ported head and better flowing intake manifold could also be added to the equation.
cams, my header as soon as i get the turbo i want, open exhaust LOL intake and advanced timing....oh wait i already did that......
easy

pull out your current motor, sell it. buy a ve, drop it in. $2000 later you have 175whp all motor. If you add up the cost of all those bolt ons, i think the VE is a way cheaper route with greater potential.

youve got a point with the ve... but if sumthin breaks on it... yur pretty much screwed for a little bit
^^^ if something breaks on your de, your not screwed either? it's still an sr series motor, and of the people who have done the swap i personally have not heard of a bad ve motor, but i have heard of bad de's and det's.

i am NOT saying that the ve is perfect, but you run the risk of damaging any motor if you modify it.

i say a ve from www.soko.com and call.... they have quoted me some decent prices for motors before. i forgot the gentleman who i spoke with when i called the chicago location but i was once quoted 750 for a sr16ve
all motor

There is an awesome thread right now in the all motor section about a dude that got 200whp out of a DE... I was faced with this decision last summer. I had basically full bolt ons aside from the JWT ECU. I had to either open up the motor and start with some serious mods, or just drop in a VE. I got the VE and now im running 14.3 on street tires with amazing drivabilty for autocross and road race type settings. And thats with the most GHETTO VE setup imagineable. DE injectors, DE ECU, DE header, 50mm exhaust... There is so much power left to open up on my motor once i get some money.
Ive only seen a few DE motors that even get over 155whp. Its possible, and its a hell of an accomplishment, but seems like a pain in the ass. Now if you are talking 150whp... that is definitely attainable with some cams, engine management, and bolt-ons. But if you are looking for 175+ the VE seems like a better long term goal. ****... s4cams, header and JWT ecu cost about as much as a whole VE motor.

yea but isnt the ve powerband similar to a vtech engine? Id like 175hp to the flywheel at all rpm
not too bad

Since the VE is a 2 liter motor it makes solid torque everywhere. Look at a VE dyno graph, most make at least 125lb-ft of torque from 3000rpm all the way up to redline. Im sorry, i thought you guys meant 175whp. 175 at the flywheel can be done pretty cheap on a DE. I think the earlier guys already said how.
